Hi all..
i notice that launching my type r at about 4000 revs, i always get some wheel spinning before it grips..
However if i launch it at lower that 3000 revs the car tends to bogg...

anyone out there who has the same problem??
any tips and techniques in launching and how much revs should you it be launched at to get a quick takeoff....

all suggestion and advice welcomed..

thanks in advance...

Take off the same as normal but press about 10 times futher on the throttle.

Don't just drop the clutch and hope for the best, let it slip while revving high and hard. Keep on the verge of wheel-spin but don't let the revs drop enough for you to bog.

Basically give it hell.

Practice at the drags, not on the streets.

Look up a product called a launch controller, its made by gizmo, you can dial in a pre-selected rpm, the car will sit on that rpm till you drop the clutch.
also usefull if you want to flat-shift (keep your foot on the gas while you change gears) once the clutch goes in, it sets your rpm's to a pre-selected rpm

I found launching my ITR at 6k rpm with minimal spin was the best as its near its sweet spot. Less rpm's just seemed an eternity to get the revs back up. Its just practice.

Personal choice, but you don't need launch control. Also you can flat shift off the stock limiter.

hand brake up, let the clutch go slightly just right before friction point so the car almost wants too move but cannot, hold the revs at about 5k-5.5k rpm and on go just drop the clutch, drop handbrake, and floor it in. if u find flooring the accelerator is giving u too much wheel spin then next time just back it off a little until its just right for you.. personal preferance everybody has a different style of launching, run different setups and tyres. but i my self and other people ive spoken to down at the creek usually launch this way.

Just interesting...

How often do you Launch your cars?
You shouldn't be launching on the streets anyways. ITR's aren't made for drags, and on the Track you do not need to Launch, unless you do gridline starts.

push on the accelator and take out the clutch slowly. you may want to clutch in a lil and then take it out sorta like double clutching. when at the tracks like Deano said you should take off around 6K

never on the street :-P

when you take it to the drags or to the track regularly enough, you find that you dont feel the same enjoyment on the street so you just grow out of it... thats me anyway

With Exedy HD clutch and Spoon flywheel, I used to launch my DC2 at 6000-6200 rpm riding the clutch for a second. On 10 PSI Toyo T1R's. Had pretty decent traction for fwd.

I have T1R's, they are sh*t. :thumbdwn:
- Shoft Sidewalls
- Lack of grip
- Not progressive

I'm definitely not touching them, again.

you will find that having a soft sidewall will actually help you when you are launching in a straight line... take a look at the slicks that top fuel drag racers use...

Snap!

They aren't the best tyres out there... But still managed a 53 second at OP south first time on them.

They are good wet weather tyres IMO, but they get chewed up soo quickly!

And for the price... they aren't bad.

There no A05 but for the price you can't complain. There pretty good bang for buck all rounder.

Lack of Grip??? you must have like 600hp at the wheels :D

I had T1S's and i liked them. I believe they were supered by the T1R's good performing, And there will always be better suited rubbers out there. Then I moved to Proxy-4's which have a longer life span, and then to bfgoodrich g-force.
For the type-R she's wearing Firenza ST08's which is alright, one of the tire guys says the rubber is a little harder, but I do live in the desert, so they're always warm.
Launching with the ST08's is pretty quick, Minimal slip, but mind you, its only a Type-R, and the roads are always dry, and tires always warm
