This started happening a few months back. When driving my 03 Jazz at around 60-70 km/h, a ticking noise can be heard from the rear of the car. This shows up occasionally but usually when I'm going up an incline. I mentioned this during my last service (55k) but they could not find anything. Has anyone experienced this?

Since my warranty is expiring in 2 months, I really want to get this looked at if possible.

does the noise increase in speed as the car goes faster ? And slows down as you do ? Might be wise to check the tyres for a stone or nail/screw stuck in there.

could it be the bearings?

Go to see your dealer! Best bet!

If the wheel bearings go, then the noise is like a loud humming sound at or above certain speeds. Not a 'ticking' noise. I know cus it happened to me.

This could be that there's a loose screw or something in the back, maybe where the spare wheel is. Take it to your dealer anyway.

the best thing to do is to test drive with a honda service person and replicate the noise to them. Get them to check the wheel bearings too.

Nah, it doesn't increase in speed. Sounds pretty constant to me and it sort comes in only at a certain speed and most often when going up an incline. Maybe ticking is a bad description. Rattling will be more appropriate.

up an incline ? Might be coming from your engine bay area ? Could be pre-ignition from too much load on the engine. What fuel do you use ? Try 98 octane and see if that clears it up
