I get a tappety noise when the car is cold. (This is a metallic clicking sound at half the crankshaft speed). When it warms up it the sound goes away.
I adjust the tappets and the sound goes away - but returns a couple of weeks later.
Why is this? I am adjusting the tappets to factory spec.
The car is a EK Civic manual with non-Vti engine
Any help would be appreciated.

Nick

My guess is that the bolts are loosening up after you've driven around for a while after adjusting the clearances. Did you overtighten or undertighten the bolts? They should be just snug, not overly tight but right enough so they don't loosen up whilst driving :O

kinda happens to mine too..
to me it is bad fuel.
but its over time.
last owner used 92
i started to use 95.
with valve lubricants, upper cylinder lubricants free noisy tappets .. etc etc..
it fixed it actually ..
still has a slight knock at cold though.
bit more maintenance here and there .. and it should b fine.. =]

Yes, I know what pinging is and this noise is definitely not it.
