Redbook sux.
Besides, I've owned 11 1st gens over the years, so I can do this off the top of my head :)
'73 and '74 660 kilos
'75 and '76 680 kilos
'77 and '78 a few kilos more than the '76
Differences: 'EB1 motor is 1170cc, EB2 is 1226, EB3 is 1226 but with a better head design (same as the '80 EN1)
I love the SBC series of Civic. BTW - if you are doing a motor swap, go the '77 and '78, they have a reworked noecone that gives you a few more cm of working room. Personally, I'd lean towards the D16 SOHC VTEC in one at 130bhp... it should fit nicely :)
If anyone knows of a '77 or a '78 with a good chassis, let me know :)
do k20 hybrid in a 1st gen civic or crx chuck ;)

1st gen CRXs are the same shape as his old 3rd gen Civic ;) Might be a tad lighter than the 3G Civic though. I don't know that a K20 would fit in an SBC.

lol Chuck, I measured one up for a ZC drop in and it was bloody tight - then again, this was for a street car, not a strip car :D
Best HP out of a SBC that I've seen is 200bhp on a bored and stroked original EB3 motor - used to be on an Aussie site somewhere. The things are weapons I swear :)

Then you could get one of those "classic not plastic" stickers :p

I've always preferred steel to plastic - Datsun 240K-GT, SLR5000, TA22 Celicas, Mitsu Scorpions, way too many gen1 Civics, '78 Statesman - all have felt a hell of a lot meatier than the plastic fantastic era... 70s metal rules :)
