I've got a stock 93 Lude Si and my mate has just bought a 2000 Vtir (also stock). I've been thinking of racing him, however i don't like my chances. Does anyone have comparable times between the two models, ie. 0 - 100 or 1/4 mile?
Or should I just save my petrol??

Save ur petrol buddy.. if urs was a VTIR.. you'd stand a chance...
Si - dont bother

yeah like stealth said... stick si vs stock vtir... the chances are very low.. unless the vtir dude cant drive...
It'd be a close one I reckon, at least for the first 100kmh

I'd give it a go hey.. dont be intimidated by the statistics.. on paper your in trouble but on the "track" :p it would be closer than you think i suspect. No respect lost in taking him on.. just let us all know when.. I'd be very keen to watch.

isnt the 4th gen vtir faster den the 5th gen?
havent raced one b4 but the 4th gen should be lighter

For laughs have a go I reckon. You'll only beat him if you can drive and shift better than him. If that's even stevens then you'll more than likely lose. The VTEC is got another 900-1,000rpm on you, even though you got a tad more torque. That should see him away in 2nd and 3rd.
But still you do beat him, you can brag too :D

I think i read somewhere that the 4th gen is alittle lighter.. but then the 5th gen H22 engine has a few extra Kw's than the 4th gen H22.
isnt the 4th gen vtir faster den the 5th gen?

Not simply that - it's also the closer ratio of the 4th gen that outguns a 5th gen (both VTiRs)

umm, aren't we talking Si? The Si has slightly taller gears than the Vtir
See my post "(both VTiRs)" = both of them being VTiRs

I mean in regards to the fellas question, not that you're wrong about the Vtir gearing
Yep yep gotcha :)
Well to put things into perspective, I've had the opportunity to compare (I have a 5th gen gearbox), and the Si will stay with the 5th gen VTiR well into 2nd gear I reckon.
