I have a clutch, fly and fd. A mechanic mate said I should go to a diff specialist is that true?

yeah the FD is hard, its like rebuilding the box or so i'm told

a normal mechanic will have no problem taking the gearbox off to replace the clutch and flywheel...most however wont really want to be installing the final drive though,you have to pull the gearbox apart and dissasemble its internals...a mechanic will make more money doing 3 services rather than pulling apart a gearbox in the same time so naturally they will prefer to do the services instead,or they will just charge you a ridiculous amount,sometimes they will charge a huge amount just to scare you off so they dont have to do the job ,so maybe talk to a diff/gearbox specialist about puttin the final drive in
