not really a stupid question at all mate.

Firstly, what engine do you have?

Secondly, whats your budget?

Thirdly, why a straight through exhaust?

For $1000 you'll be able to get some 5Zigen ones...look through our Traders section for contacts.

A straight through exhaust wont always give best performance, especially on a N/A car. I'm no exhaust expert, but a straight through exhaust (or any exhaust for that matter) will need an ECU tune to live up to its full potential.

Also, it will be STUPIDLY loud.

Even after those mod's I think a stock civic on it's original wheel's will be faster.
Not bagging you, just giving you an opinion.

3" is 2 big for a civic (presuming it has a 1.6)

if u want a cheapish system get xforce extractors, high flow cat and catback... go maybe 2.5" max imo...

as for a pod filter, just get some intake piping down to ur front bar and put the pod down there so it sucks in cold air rather then heat from the engine bay....

Also 17" is not going 2 help u go fast on a civic... 16" biggest size u should go for imho, 15" is the best size(and tyres are cheap ass)...

Cheers Dave

ok as for the info on mags.. its too late with those :) lol i already love the ones i got.. not gunna change em any time soon

ok then i thort 3" wudav been ok.. but then i dont really no that much ha ha

for the cat back... go xforce 4 that 2?? 2.25?? thats wat i read sumwere else so yeah

2.25 or 2.5 will be ok.... anything bigger is not really necessary. i am fairly sure xforce make extractors, high flow cat and catback for most civics...

Cheers Dave

you'd want to find out your engine code first

that'll make it heaps easier for exhaust places/traders to help you out with parts

for $1000 you would only get a few hundred change for the 5zigen headers.

Xforce is your friend :)

Its cheaper than the rest and even though it gets put down a lot, its really not that bad.

i have a set of xforce extrators for sale if ur interested.

i must say they are very bfyb.

i have since upgraded to a 4-2-1 hytech header and didnt find much improvement on the top end power (ie. 6K onwards).

but below that theres a world of diffrence. very responsive and makes very good torque. but it didnt come cheap.

depending on which civic you have..
B series - 2 1/4" max
D series - 2" max

a 3" tip is no prob, the tip does nothing to the car other than looks

Other thing i would recommend is a Steel Cat, makes quite abit of difference.

stainless steel highflow cat inside and out, 2 1/2" all the way to a stock type R muffler. i like my car quiet, less attention. :p

not sure where they came from, mechanic had it in stock and i just picked them up.

imho id rather the drivablitiy of the 4-2-1 header rather then the top end of the 4-1. why gain an extra 2 kws at 8krpm when u can gain a bucket load more at 4krpm. and to look at the stats, most of the big power header designs are 4-2-1, toda, smsp, hytech, and buddyclubs to name a few.

but in saying that, i am positive the 4-2-1 header makes more peak power over the previous xforce header.

Make sure you do plenty of research b4 you buy parts.Read read read.It will save you lots of $$$ in the long run.Nothing worse than spending a heap of money on a part only to find out 'I should have got that one' etc etc.
4-2-1 Header is best for a daily unless you want more top end by sacrificing bottom end.X-Force 4-2-1 Header is a great upgrade over stock for the price.

i have to say that with my JDM 4-1 headers i gained bottom end also, not just top end.

But it all depends what engine he has as to his options

WHAT IS UR CAR???

CXI? D16Y4

GLI? D16Y4

VTI? D16Y8

TYPE R? B16

When you let us know it will be much easier to tell you what products to buy.
If you have a d16y4 then dont buy any products buy new engine.

agreed. ok kirri dont do anything cept drop it, rims and turbo is a must. LOL NO 3 inch exhaust.
K&N pod and polished intake will do nicely as well.
Dont know if its worth it to get headers

I bought X-Force headers 2nd hand for my y4,cheap and a great improovement over stock.I wouldn't throw money at the y4 engine though,if you want to go fast.If you want to do that get a Turbo set up.
I got I/H/E,FPR,MSD system and I'm very happy with how my car runs cause I don't want to go faster.I'm doing all the suspension mods now. This way if I do crave speed later,I can do an engine swap or Turbo the d.
