Hi, one of the main attractions when choosing my new 2007 Civic Hybrid was the expected fuel economy. It's advertised rate is 4.9L/100km's.
It is my experience though that the best economy that is sustainable is 5.8L/100km's. While I'm very happy with the car as a whole, I am dissappointed that the advertised fuel economy is simply not achievable. I would be interested in hearing other Hybrid owners experiences.

Figures may also be impacted by factors such as the conditions of driving. i.e. alot of city driving or mostly highway K's..Must say though 5.8L/100 is still awesome!

You have to understand that the fuel economy advertised is per some ADR standard and of course may not be reflective of real world scenarios. I'm averaging approx 10-12L/100km in my Civic 1.8L (the standard petrol version of yours) with full city start-stop traffic driving.

the figures on the stickers on the windscreen when you buy them are not 'real world' figures. they are all done in a labratory and are only to be used for comparative purposes.

dunno what planet you are from but 5.8L/100km is not bad as all

they design city driving will be less fuel comsumption

hwy driving will be more fuel comsumption.

because from 0 - 40kph, it will be using electric power, above 40kph will change to fuel power....

but still 5.8L/100 still sounds awasome to me!!!

if you want good power and fuel economy you should of bought a diesel golf.
Anyway as above the stats are a comparison.
Remember to check your tyres air pressure , as its a very big impact on true fuel economy :)

NOT REAL WORLD FIGURES...... It totally depends on the conditions the vehicle is driven in and how it is driven. The 1.8 ltr Auto fitted to the VTI & VTIL is quoted at 7.2 L/100km, my average fuel consumption after 38,208kms - 2,597.62 ltrs = 6.834 L/100km. This is better than advertised.

Its a new car so it will take about 10,000km to wear in.

My Euro consumed 17L/100km initially, now its below 10L
