How much is it to convert a carby EG into an EFI. Like rough estimate of everything done, like @ mechanics.

Also, just wondering, looking through some threads, something about half cuts when engine conversion? can someone just elaborate on that a little.

If possible could anyone give me total price of:
Carby EG conversion into EFI
then changing the engine into SOHC, or maybe b16a ??
(including all that engineering n lala)
AND maybe what are the steps of converting an engine? like.. do you have to get like stuff from RTA or what?
Yes i know im noob =)

Whats would the price of all drive in, drive out. ??

And yes i know its cheaper if done @ home, but i just want to know prices of doing it by mechanics n lala

SOHC = no vtec? or wat?

SOHC refers to Single Overhead Cam, meaning that one camshaft controls both the intake and exhaust. There are SOHC vtec engines, not sure which ones they are though.

You woudnt convert your carby engine to EFI (if this is what you are referring to). Your best bet is converting to the B16A - which is a DOHC (Double overhead cam - 1 cam for intake 1 for exhaust) VTEC engine.

Rough pricing:

Engine - AROUND 2-3k
Labour of putting engine in + changing fuel lines around $1500
Brake upgrade: 3-500
Certificates etc - I dont know.

I've never done this conversion, just what ive heard from people. BTW these are rough prices.

Anything else i havnt mentioned please feel free to add.

Roughly mechanics prices.

B16a conversion 4-5k installed in a EFI car. Dependent on workshop.

Carby -EFI conversion 1.5k extra.

Ngah thanks heaaps both of you x)

So i wanna drive a car fuel efficient too, would SOHC be the way to go?
Whats the best engine w/ SOHC?

sohc is single over head cam, the D series have these like for example the eg vti. it really depends what your looking for, if its power then u wont be satisfied with a sohc engine.
i suggest you go with a b series. depending on ur budget, b16a are cheapest, b16b more power but more expensive and harder to find. b18c from the integra ull need about $6k.
so if u want power go with dohc(real v-tec engines) and depending on ur budget which engine.
u also gotta consider brake upgrade and also the carby to efi conversion.

what car do you drive now? eg gl, breeze??
if so, theres no point converting to a sohc engine unless ull turbo it. just save up for a better engine.

power=fuel consumption!!

yep, thats about the prices your looking at

if your gonna go the trouble of doing the carby to efi conversion then your best bet is to get a b16a or b18c (both DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) vtec engines). with these engines in your car with no mods you will get around 90kw at the wheels. if you arnt concerned about more power, dont waste your $1500 on a carb to efi conversion, its probably cheaper to sell your car and go buy an efi version

Hlaf cuts will basically give you the front half of the car (engine gearbox ecu etc) so instead of sourcing all the parts from different places you get them all at once.

D16y4 engine = No vtec

D16y8 engine = SOHC vtec
