build date and complience date-clarify sum1....thx

aloha all,

What items of a car do they check for complience
my lude has a build date of sept 99 (da pop riveted badge near the radiator)
and wen i went to register at
www.hondaone.com.au the official honda car owners site....to register my ride...place da vin numba in and its classed as a yr 2000 model.

Then went to NRMA to transfer insurance from my Gen3 lood, and they insure it as a yr2000. model

ps...my Gen 3 lood brokedown and started crying coming back from work in da gong....i'll leeve da endin 4 dat story anudda time.

da lood waz built in japan in 99 n ported hre in 00!

I have seen some cars (Suzukis and Hyundais spring to mind) with build dates of like 1996 but there australian compliance was 1999. Its totally normal for cars built overseas.

Mercedes are notorious for it too, they won't comply the car until it's sold. So it's not uncommon for a two year old benz to have a compliance plate on it from last week.

dec 85 build date, dec 86 compliance date.
