I got a 92 Eg Civic Sedan, and I'm having trouble with the air condition, when i turn it on, it doesn't get cold it just stays the same also when i turn it on it makes a clicking noise in my engine bay, does anyone know what the problem is? and how much would it cost me to get it fix
Also on another note, where would you guys recommend me to go? lets say around Sydney - West area
Thanks!

sounds like out of gas. May need to recondition and then change to new gas, due to age of car you prob got old gas. The new gas fittings and gas will be around 200-300

Won't need new fittings, just a re-gas. Condenser is more likely to be okay. If it's a click your hearing then it's just the solenoid clicking over. No need to worry mate, take her up to a car air-con shop and have her vac'd and gassed up. ;)
Actually...wait wait, is the clicking constant or just once the condenser kicks in? If its constant then your condenser's almost gone. But if it's once the condenser kicks in then its fine. Sorry to worry you in that case lol

Sorry to hijack the thread but I just bought an EG hatch
Same problem with the A/C but the mechanics next door reckons the hoses are corroded, is this a common problem?
Whats the rough costs involved with replacing these?

Hoses are relatively cheap from the wreckers, if they're still in one piece. They normally chop em' 20-30cm from the fitting. It'll cost around 150-250 to make up again. So pretty much, if your using existing ones your looking at a re-fab price of that much.
If the hoses WERE corroded though, you'd be one pissed off EG owner, since there's roughly 50 pounds of pressure going in and out of those pipes, they would've blown apart already. Either that, or you would've set your car on fire (the gas inside is highly flammable...like BBQ gas.) :thumbdwn:

When you need the new gas they need to change the fittings as the old gas has different fittings. Never been able to get new gas on the old gas fittings. Had 3 cars now that i had to do this to.
New oil + new gas + new gas fittings
P.S with the ticking mine ran like that in the old car for over 3yrs without issue and then i sold the car. It is one its way but i could be a while. You can fix it when it doesn't move anymore

check your condensor fan if it working coz the compressor switchs off when it get hot and turns back on when it cools

Clicking sound might even be a dodgy clutch on the a/c compressor or that the syste, had only enough gas to trigger the a/c switch, but not work properly.
Easiest thing to do is to go and get a few quotes from you local shop. Yellow pages if you really get stuck.
FYI, if you have new gas it should cost between 80 - 120 with new seals. If have old gas, need to change a few things costing 200 - 300, depending on where you go and what parts are needed.
