View Full Version : 68mm POWER Throttle Body Review

Just a quick review on a cheap modification i recently carried out on the car.

I decided to help improve the throttle response of the S by using a larger aftermarket throttle body (standard is 64mm from memory). I decided to go with the 'Power Throttle Body' 68mm. I paid roughly $300AUD landed for this unit which is much better than forking out $700 for the spoon unit.

First impressions are that the car feels alot more responsive. Feels very zippy especially when stepping on the gas. The car does not feel as 'lazy' down low. I havnt dynoed the car yet with this, but will do so when i purchase an aem ems to make the most out of my current modifications and future power upgrades.

highly recommended mod if you already have intake and exhaust.

if your interested in getting one shoot me a pm and il point you in the right direction.

does the accelerator feel the same though? or is it stiffer to press...?

Installation took around 30min-45min. Much better to drive. If we have time back 2 back dyno from stock 64mm t/b to 68mm t/b. More gains will be made if we port match the manifold.

Hey mate what does "port match the manifold" mean?

The manifold entry. I think its about 65-66mm, havn't measured it yet. Will need to port it out to 68mm to fully gain from a bigger t/b.

Maybe you can do a before and after ECU dyno chart... just an idea as alot of us (well I won't be) might not want to change ECU but curious on the modification.

In the past 2 years I've read more negative news on that guy that I have on Osama Bin Laden.

Engines blowing up due to shitty tunes.
Engines swaps that never took place and never replied to calls. Never turned up in court for his $32K that he owes.
Falsly supplying ECU's he said he's a distrubtor of, when he's not.
Engine tuning that was booked, with dyno's and a motel, but he never shows up.

Think I'll pass.

^^ cant always believe what you read Brad. Each point you mentioned has a reason.

dynodaves work has been tested and proven over and over again with good times at the track compared to some other tuners around.

PM sent on a thread I want you to read about "Dyno Dave"

Its off another forum, so you'll have to sign up.

guys , it seems ALL "tuners/builders" here have both good and bad rep about them. Maybe it simply runs with the game or maybe there is truth to each.

But lets not post about it here. This thread is about fly's 68mm throttle body and relative discussion.

i guess all engine builders/tuners are the same.. i thinks thats just how they work and do their trade.. oh wellz.. but i still thinks his a bloody good tuner and builder when it comes to HONDAs...

Dyno Testing was done on Fly's S2k @ Bel Garage today. Big thanks to Dave and the guys @ Bel for the opportunity to do the testing.

68mm throttle body and new intake system were both tested with very pleasing result. I'll get fatboyz39 to do the full write-up.

ill write up whenever i get hold of the dyno graph to prove the gains.

Lets just say first run as is 131kw atw...after intake setup and bigger throttle body 137kw...

eriktufa

Intake + TB = 6kw gain? nice

How about intake only or TB only?

Did a write up eventually make it in the forums about this modification?
