magnaflow is an american brand and when i was researching it I saw they used it alot on muscle cars... most magnaflow exhausts have a sexy noise plus they aren't to expensive, the apexi one is a little more expensive... but i cant say i've heard many FD's with exhausts so yeh...

lol asking a question like what is the chance of getting a defect is a very difficult one to answer......

firstly, where abouts do u live... suburb loaded with cops? or queit area?
2ndly, wat other mods do u have? shiny rims, dumped on its ass, heavy tints, all attract attention from police, which can yes possibly get u a defect....

there all things u have to take into consideration when asking a question like that.. generally defects for exhausts are alot lower than defects for exposed pod, heavy tints, car being to low...

but just to make you happy, get axleback exhaust and keep your stock one so even if you do get a defect its a bolt off bolt on job to get it cleared...

hope it kindah helps :honda::thumbsup:

I'm more interested to know which aftermarket exhausts/mufflers are reputable and can be easily bolted onto the FD1 (and thus easily reversed out later on)?

Any thoughts?

Theres only 2 exhausts i can think of thats plug and play. Mugen and Fujitsubo. All the other ones like Magnaflow, HKS, Remus etc requires cutting and welding. Correct me if im wrong

is there a difference in the exhausts from the axle back between fd1 and fd2?

presumable the floor plan is the same and they run the exhaust along the same path

The length should be different since FD1 has a different cat position compared to FD2.

from the back axle though?

from the back axle though?

If it is an axle back, then should be similar. Is there a flange joint at the rear axle?

do you think its cheaper to go to a place like hi-tech muffler and ask them to custom one for our civic?

A custom-made stainless steel single outlet catback with a muffler and 2 resonators should still cost less than 1.7k... I wonder if that 1.7k buys you titanium only on the tip or throughout the whole system?

Until someone can definitely say it'll work on an FD1, I'd rather not risk it. Rather put the money into something which will work.

Then it should be fine for the sport model but not for the vti/vti-l models as the cat is located in the engine bay >.>

The VTI/L has 2 cats.... one on the header and one after the header.

have a look at this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-07-08-CIVIC-SI-2D-4D-BOLT-ON-N1-MUFFLER-AXLE-EXHAUST_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33630QQihZ007QQ itemZ170195362684QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

its a bolt-on axleback n1 style muffler for civic w/ silencer. maybe this will do the trick for fds?
