hey guys,
has anyone seen this on an ek/ej/em? or am i the 1st:wave: Rep Me +1
had this idea for a while now after seeing them on eg's but was too lazy to attempt it on my ej8... Until now...
what u need
- amber lens dye ($10-$15 from autobarn)
- flathead + philips screwdriver
- socket wrench for unscrewing 10mm bolts
- silicon for sealing headlight
- automotive masking tape + blade for cutting
- wax n grease remover
what to do
1.remove headlight- two srews on side fenders, 3x 10mm bolts under, 7 plastic screws on top... & so on.. too lazy to go into detail. u guys should know how to do it... if not someone must off did a diy on it..
2. remove lens- get ur flathead screwdriver n start prying. if ur scared ur gonna crack the lens then put it in the oven, preheat it to 150deg then put it in for abt 3mins.. or until it the lens is hot enough.. the glue should then be easier to work with.
3. once the lens is apart clean the inside of the lens with wax n grease remover so the paint will stick on properly.
4. once the lens is apart get ur masking tape n tape around the indicator part. With a blade cut around that section following the groove. now remove the excess tape to expose the indicator section of the lens.
5. now for the spaying part.. this will require a few coats.. make sure u allow time for each coat to dry.. its finish when ur happy with the colour n u see no cracks in the paint.
The End Result
