A plumb back is a plumb back. If your getting noise now, do you think you'll get in much quieter with another one?

Limbo
04-02-2008, 11:50 AM
yeah been told that there are quieter BOVs out there.

JasonGilholme

i always thought that plumb back was plumb back?

Unless the noise is the pressurised air going back through the air filter instead of back through the turbo?

Limbo
04-02-2008, 03:06 PM
hmm i dunno never thought about that.
The plumb back is straight to the intake arm inbetween the turbo and the filter

I got the plumb back for the supersonic one. I need to get the sleeper one.
The only thing is that i got the plumb back it came with another spring, which i installed.

Should i go softer to reduce noise? as i have it on hard atm

Unless the noise is the pressurised air going back through the air filter instead of back through the turbo?

Thats exactly what it is. Thats what I have been trying to tell you Limbo as in the other thread. Thats the only way the noise can come out.

does that mean i have to plumb it back and point it towards the turbo instead of just a straight 90 degree into the intake pipe?

Also my filter is sealed

I agree with Aza, use an OEM Mitso valve

would probably be best to point it towards the turbo, but whether it's worth the effort is up to you..

and i'd hope your air filter isn't too sealed, wouldn't get much air in there otherwise :S

i'd like a plumb back so i can get it engineered.

Looked into the plumbback of my car, i think it is leaking thru the filter.

Guess it keeps the filter clean

Look on the EVO forums. www.evooz.net. they sell evo 7+ bypass valves which metal and dont leak like other plastic valves. Personally i wouldnt ever runa plasitic bypass valve. They all leak.

Oh, and dont think a bypass valve will get u off a defect - on the lancer forums there are guys with stock bypass valves and shiney yellow defect notices. Its all about the shape. Pigs dont know the difference between a bypass or a blowoff. They dont know why its defect, they dont know how it operates. All they know is that its a defect cause of its the shape.

You best best, get any valve you want and stick it in the inner-gaurd. If a pig cant see it, he cant defect it!!

Everyone FORGET all these last BOVs listed... This is the K I N G BOV!

GFB Deceptor Pro BOV

Either plub-back or VENT to atmosphere OR turn off completely for Dose.... ALL by incar Electronic control. Basically its a small motor solenoid built into the bov will changes its state.

Similar to a TEIN edfc ...

HKS sqq, heard one before - it's kinda like compressor surge sound, but no harm to ur turbo

but isn't bov's illegal? i've read from FIA motorsport regulations because exhaust is not filtered before they enter the atmosphere...

Bov's are on the intake side. Your talking about a Wastegate.

why would you want to filter AIR before releasing it back into the... AIR?

:p

I figured he was talking about a WG to atmosphere and therefore NOT going through the Cat. But yeh, no need to filter the bov to atmosphere, thats not gona do much. But legally it needs to be plumped back to your intake.

for that kit,
wat would be the loudest BOV to get? i wanted compressor surge but i cant have it coz of xternal gate plumbed back in2 the system blablabla pretty devo, so i may aswell get a loud BOV since i cant get CS...

DLO01
03-03-2008, 02:45 PM
What are you talking about boy.:p Plumbing the WG back or not, will not affect surge.

If you want compressor surge, don't put a Bov on at all. Flutter all the way!!!

Killa From Manila
03-03-2008, 05:25 PM
as said above, wastegate has nothing to do with flutter. the guy may be talking about screamer pipe perhaps? the loud wastegate scream wen its vented straight to atmo

Go with the MR valve. Nice and quiet. This oem unit can handle 20+ psi. You can find one here>>> http://www.meek.com.au/index.php?v=Product&id=160&pcid=29

Aza
04-03-2008, 11:25 AM
the stock bovs can handle up to 20 psi.

the mr can handle up to around 25 psi.

massive price difference though....

im pretty sure limbo isnt running over 20 psi in his civic

Limbo
04-03-2008, 07:17 PM
i get flutter at low rpm.
Yeah i'm only running 10PSI.
From what i heard of the Turbosmart Supersonics are made for high boost apps, can't rem how much anyway

Limbo

Bosch, are they the plastic units?
If so, used one on the 4G93. Awesome stuff. Vents a dick ton of air for it's size. Springs are pretty soft in these things though....
