Get an alignment mate lol

Yup, like vyets said, you need an alignment after lowering. Make sure you have the proper camber/toe kits so that you can adjust them if they are out of spec.

mine is 3" lower, the rear juz wear on inside.

front wear evently.......

cause my mechanic said that if i lower the car only 1.5 inch it wont have un even tyre wear but if you go any lower you will need camber kits for it so the toe can bend in an out to become aligned straight

Still, get an alignment done even if you were lowering it by only 1.5 inches.

how are you with speed humps, carparks, islands?

You always need an alignment don't be a cheapo, your driving a s2000, even lowering your car 1.5" will give you uneven wear. Once you take the suspension out and put it back its unlikley it will stay straight. You should ALWAYS get an aligment. Get some camber kits and normal sized rims not overboard chromes and you should be able to run 0 degrees camber then you wont get camber wear (inside of tyres) And you don't have to worry about sag like the chopped/compressed springs.

also dont forget lowering more than 1.5" will incur bumpsteer. you can do this by getting front and rear bumpsteer kits.

mechanic sounds a bit dopey. The S2k comes with its own onboard camber kit....

Stock can only go soo much,
And aftermarket kit like the J's racing camber kit can give you more room for adjustment.

what is bumpsteer?

vyets
07-02-2008, 11:26 AM
Excatly what the name is..

When wheels steer themselves without steering input.
Caused by bumps and stuff on the road

teaseR
07-02-2008, 12:02 PM
so bumpsteer and torquesteer is 2 different issue?

vyets
07-02-2008, 12:26 PM
Torque steer is a FWD problem, not that it matters since hondas don't have torque haha, but it can happen.

CH00EY
07-02-2008, 12:28 PM
so bumpsteer and torquesteer is 2 different issue?

im no expert but i think they r 2 differnt things, torquesteer iv learnt to be very noticable in high powered front wheel drive cars (mps3), too much power in front wheels casuing steering to steer itself.

euge!

NVD52K
07-02-2008, 02:47 PM
so your saying u hit bumps and the car steers itself? do you suffer from this vyets?

ludecrs
07-02-2008, 10:34 PM
so bumpsteer and torquesteer is 2 different issue?

Very different.

Bump-steer is your bumpstops in your suspension. hit a bump, does your car steer away off the road or not?

torque-steer is FWD putting your foot down straight away from a standstill basically and the car sliding left or right in the front and you having to adjust it back.

is bump steer a common problem?

ludecrs
08-02-2008, 10:14 AM
Not really. Unless your car is substancially lowered beyond about 1.5".

You can buy bumpsteer spacers to eliminate the problem.

Infact, here's a set for sale in Canada.

just bought j's racing drive shaft spacers should be good

.::F[L]Y::.
09-02-2008, 03:04 PM
drive shaft spacers AFIK doesnt fix bumpsteer. Its mainly designed to correct the angle of the rear shafts when you lower your car beyond 1.5" to prevent damage to the inner shaft (the vibration upon accelerating when your inner shafts are fckd). There has been alot of debate on the s2ki forum of whether or not the driveshaft spacer does anything and there is still no evidence of their usefulness. So im afraid nvds2k may have wasted some good money for nothing.

to reduce bumpsteer you can get either toe rods for the rear which allow for greater adjustment than the stock item and power steering rack spacers for the front. To completely fix the problem with an excessively lowered car you will be looking at spending a fair bit.

I meant to grab a coke tin this afternoon and ram it under and take a picture, but I was busy and forgot.

At the rear of my side skirts, I can't fit more than half my foot underneath, so I'd presume about 7-9cm high.

Yikes.... got boot?...

I ended up getting height adjustable coilovers so I'll probably lower mine 1 1/2 inches when I put my 18's on... Don't want to go too low just a nice height the front lip is low enough....

Won't it be easier to remove part of the stereo than the soft top?

18's. which exhaust did you get? i use to have an ARC single titanium and it would scrape at that height. if you got over axle then you will be fine.

Tein Streets?
You mean the Super streets?
How come you went with all hardcore engine mods but basic coilovers? I've never seen Tein SS for the s2000 btw! hook me up

Anyway here's my car now lowered I get a fair bit of bump steer now.
