Anyone put a set of 18's on their DC2R?

I know its not optimum for performance etc, but Im just going for the look.

White is what I am going to go for.

But just any pics of peole with 18's OR personal ecxperience with fitting and or NOT fitting.....

18s should be ok.. just make sure you pick tyres that meet ur load rating etc.. and profile will be personal choice perhaps.. may need to roll guards if a fair bit of lowereing is involved.. but thats entirely up to you

:)

You will not be able to reach full lock turning right. It will scrape the inside left guard. I have 17inch on my DC2R and just b4 full lock right, you hear a scraping sound, now its not a big problem with the 17's but 18's would be just a hasle to drive around.
Sorry to sound negative, but im just telling you how it is.

depends on the profile of the tyres.... :)
get your guards rolled!

yeah if ur gonna get 18s.. you havta help let the wheels move and have the freedom under the guards.. i.e rolled

:)

I used to have 18's on my DC2 although it wasn't an R. If you want some pics I can post them in this thread for you to show you what 18's look like on a lowered DC2. By the way, I didn't roll the guards on mine and didn't really have to worry about rubbing BUT my turning circle turned to shit. :p

Here are a few pics. Car is lowered about 2.5 inches in these pics with no rolled guards.

Still have 18's on my DC2.. Rubbing is a problem with more than 2 people in the car but otherwise fine :D
Get guards rolled and car lowered professionally, I think you can manage.

I never want more than one passenger anyways. Personal choice, it borderlines the cars limit.

[IMG]I had 18" on a dc2r and it turned like a bitch, the guards rubbed when i turn so had to take turns easy without full locking the steering wheel, they made me have a camber kit installed since the inner tyres were getting chewed. Pissed me off so i went to 17's.

those 18" is no good for s DC2R,as this car is good for handling and corner, and u will lose some power when pick up too,go to 15" with 195/55 or 16"

Agree with you there, my DC2R came with 17" as well, with 215/40s. Sydney roads are not exactly great and the 17s amplified every single bump/hole. Swapped them back to the original 195/55/15s. Handling, performance, fuel economy improved heaps. Maybe that's how the R is suppose to feel..... then again.. it's a personal preference...

Sorry for another hijack. :p

i have 18"s i have had the guards rolled and it scrapes on full lock but i like them not much room for tyre though so its a rough ride

hahah yeah they fit fine 7.5" i think wide if i remember
they fit better with the guards rolled

but yeah they fit ok

BUT im gonna go smaller wheels casue the wheels feel like they have a rubber band wrapped around them its a hard ride

UH HUH
05-09-2004, 08:36 PM
hahahaha yeah i know the feeling about a hard ride.... i got stretched tyres and coilovers....

There are no diff's between the wheel arch set up in the VTiR's and the GSi's are there???

7.5...... exactly what i wanted to here... ahahah

my uncle is an auto electician in japan and he has been in a car industry for a while now and when i got new rims on my car he told me iam an idiot, especially they 17' and were so wide. so afterwork, my uncle got one of his mechanics to sit down wiv me and talk about wheels size, and to shorten the story he said unless if you have a massive power increase, there really isnt a point getting bigger wider wheels, in the long run you will be wasting money since the tyres will differ in price, and the steering will become heavy, and basically stuff up the cars balance, eg weight distribution, speedo and few other mechanical stuff but i cant remember and the stress across the drivetrain will suffer (may not but i dont wanna try) and he continued and said if you want grip, spend that extra money on getting a really good set of rubber. so since then, i have my stokkies 195, and not thinking about changing them at all and in my previous car they actually drive alot better when i put the stokkies then what i used to have. by the way this was my previous ride and wasnt a honda but it was still a car. but it will look nice! goodluck with your decision!!

yeah 17s the way to go but I must say that you have to get the correct offset for the rims and the size for the tyres........

18s are alrite, but like da1 said, ull b sacrificing a lil bit of performance.

Had ALT 17" wheels and 205/45 Potenza GIII tyres on my DC2 VTiR. The car felt better than with stock 15" wheels and Potenza RE010 195/55 tyres.
The ride was definitely better and the handling was not affected.
Tyres did not rub on guards, even with Eibach lowered springs. :D

major_matt, no offense or anything dude, but even though your car is a showcar. 37K for a DC2R is not justifiable. I could nearly get a DC5 with that!

You can pick up a DC5R for around $30k these days, going rate is anywhere between $28k-$38k

$37k for a DC2R..... all I can say is best of luck.

:arrowu:

If you want to minimise your losses, the best bet would be to return the car to stock and sell off all the parts. Look around the web for price guides and best of luck!
