camber

i just had my wheels alligned.

they adjusted it to:
rear n/s -2 o/s -2
front n/s -3 o/s -2 3/4

?!??!!? and they adjusted the steering colum underneath the car.


doesnt feel as tight and responsive as i thought wheel allignment would... but i havent even gone over 40kms/h since i had it done.

do you have a camber kit on your car?

or you have just slammed it?

that is quite a lot of negative camber for a street car, and i wouldnt understand why anyone would adjust it like that.

what were your toe settings?

My camber is -2.5 on the rears, and the wheel place told me i'd be measuring my tyre life in weeks unless i get a camber correction kit.

I was getting my wheels aligned and he didnt even bother adjusting the rears because he said that at those camber levelss there is no point trying to adjust anything.

interesting theory, mine is -3 front and rear, and my rears (with a rotation a few months ago) have been on since November 2002. Fronts lasted a year with a rotation half way through. That neg camber isnt by choice, i simply cant get the wheels any straighter without raising the car a fair way or a lot of guard work.

I have a feeling that toe is more important than camber as far as tyre wear goes

Yeah, i plan on rotating regularly but i was going to see about camber kits for the rear (at least bring it back a degree or so)

Yes toe is important, but when you lower your car as much as fried has (and a lot of other people on these forums) all that negative camber will wear out the inside of your tyre. And once this starts happening, its hard to get the tyre to wear evenly again.

Eric, you need a camber kit (very easy to install on your DC2....after that its just a matter of getting the suspension shop to adjust it.
