View Full Version : HELP!! Cracked Front Lip =(

As said above my front lip has cracked...

My dad hit the gutter and now i have a massive horizontal crack on the lip that is about 30cm long.

Any ideas on how i can fix this..?

Btw i have a fd

is the front lip fibreglass or ABS? if its abs then get someone to plastic weld it.

Its made of ABS will post a pic up tomorrow.

dont worry gabby you can repair it and respray.

I feel your pain! That's exactly what happened to my car! Only my Dad didn't just didn't crack the lip, he pretty much ripped the whole front lip off! aarrrgghhh!!

If you know a plastic welder, then that's one option. DO NOT get the smash repairer to use glue of any sort. Glue is waste of time! It's not as strong, where as plastic welding will give it the same strength as new. I know because I used glue for my kit. I hit the gutter gently one day and there's another crack on my kit. arrrgghhh!!!

If you can't find a plastic welder, I suggest you get a new front lip. I know a wholesaler that sells just the front lip. (IM me for details). I'll get a quote if you like and you can decide which one is the better option.

How much roughly for a plastic weld? I used good ol' cable tie haha :)

I got quoted $80 to reweld a 10-15cm crack in my bumper and $300 for bumper respray. While $750 for respray and reweld from "TheTouchUpGuys"

Ouch. Can't help you with any advice, sorry - but you don't happen to live in (or frequent) Engadine at all?

Just on Friday I saw an FD with a Mugen-style kit coming out of KFC with the front lip almost hanging off care of a massive horizontal crack across - it was most distressing to see! :(

Hope you can fix it easily mate.

that's disadvantage of ABS (hard to repair) compare to fiberglass (much easier to repair)

once abs is broken/cracked
the whole structure of it is 'weakened' (what i've been told)
i hit a possum and i fort maybe could repair it, but it is hard and even if attempted to repair i think it will break again quite easily

buy new one.

my side and rear skirt were cracked pretty badly, they are abs... went to fix it in e.r.mcnamara on princess highway arncliffe and it came out pretty good actually
