Hi there guys.

Ive been browsing the forum for a while now, gr8 site you guys have.:thumbsup:

Im from cape town(South africa), and ive been busy with my ls/vtec NA setup. It includes arias high comp pistons, arp head bolts, arp rod bolts, 2.5 inch exzorst, 4-1 header, blox intake manifold, and new typer oil pump. The problem im having is that the car keeps running bearings(twice already):( The entire rotating assembly was balanced by an engineering place in cape town. The second time it was taken to another engineering company who was recommended to me by one of the guys from Honda.

I wanted to know if you guys have had any problems with eagle conrods, or if the conrods could be the cause of it? Reason im asking is bcos this is what i was told, initially i was told it is better to go with the eagle conrods. So much of the information we get here in SA contradicts itself.:thumbdwn:

Any help would be appreciated.

i've never heard of any issue like yours with those rods.
Wat bearing are you running? Did you do the oil line for the vtec?

I have the ge oil line kit, and we using acl bearings.
As far as a NA build is concerned is it ok to use the eagle rods? Ive read somewhere its best to keep standard rods and just replace rod bolts?

if they dont get the clearence right for the bearings and linish the crank u will keep spinning the bearing

Is there like any special clearances required or would the standard clearances be sufficient?

At the moment the car seems fine but needs a tune badly, its over fuelling quite a bit. So im keeping fingers crossed it goes well on the dyno.

Honda has lots of different bearing shell sizes. Make sure your machine shop checks the crush clearance on the big end of the rod. Put the caps on first torqued to specs. and check for out of round and run out. Visually inspect the chamfer. Assemble the set and check the clearance of the set including the bearings torqued BEFORE putting them onto the crank. Like several people have said it's the clearance that makes bearings go away not the rods. Use the specs from the rod manufacturer.

Thanx man. I was thinking the same thing. Lets see how she goes now since having gone to these other engineers. Im having it dynoed on the 21st again. Last time it made 139kw and 199nm Atf.

that's a pretty high atw reading for a LS/vtec setup. How high you revving it up to?
