SOHC VTEC crossover

hey can any of you guys with sohc vtec engines actually feel the vtec crossover. as in is it noticable? because now im worried my oil pressure is too low

ps totally unrelated, but do the bulbs in the back of your cluster come out of the little brown plastic socket things? becuase i want to know what to buy to replace them with LED's

my mates got a red eg5 with a CAI. u do hear the cross over, but nothing beats the crossover of a b16.

yeah i can hear mine, but yeah its nothing special. b16a for me soon :)

I don't actually feel it cross over but thanx to sri you can heat it and i also wired up some leds so you can see when it crosses over:)

Yes the bulbs do come in the little brown holders, but you pull the bulbs out of those holders to change them. I had blue LEDs in mine, foa about 2 months and (looked awesome), but that's when they started blowing so i gave up on the idea, esp since it was $15 pair and you'll need 6 ($45) plus if you need to replace any, another $15.........they're T5 wedge type from memory (someone confirm....:))

oks since uve got an eg5 like me im guessing u have a d16y1? my cars stripped of the rear interior saving me a few kilos no sound deadening so less weight to lug around but mine hits around 5k? before then all i can hear is my exhaust which thankfully isnt loud but when i hit 5k-ish i feel a SLIGHT pull and intake noise pretty much consumes everything else hope that helps =]

Yeah I dont notice the crossover much with the d16y8. Feel more when I turn off th a/c lol

my crossover is quite loud..but dat mite be cos i drive wit the roof off..lol
but yeh a slight pull..nuthin like the b series and better lol

that's cos you have a b series. They are talking D series SOHC.
I've noted that my D17 doesn't make any noise either

d series with a pod makes noise =9 so u can tell wen but feel is a different story lol

yeah of course but the b16 crossover is much louder standard. with pod =D

nah i hav a d series....my car is the JDM Delsol...with the automatic targa..they come with the SOHC vtec's..

if u have the hatch, then u should notice the vtec cos it will make a slightly louder n higher pitched sound...the sedan doesn't come with vtec;)

yeah i can hear the crossover, but its weird, my intake is really loud at idle, and it just changes pitch when i hit vtec. plus my exhuast prettyy much drowns out any sounds coming from outside the car.

I have a sohc vtec in my cd5 accord.

I am not sure of the egs intake, however in my car, I pulled out my air intake resonator (****ing pointless thing) and vtec is about 200% more noticeable, you hear a big induction roar when you hit vtec in my car roughly 3kish

If eg's have an intake resontor, You might be able to take it out and you'll get excellent results.
Im sure someone with an Eg can correct me here, but in accords its the best free mod you can do.

yeah i took out the resonator a while ago, and my intake is a top fuel 0-1000 one, its the one with an orange pod and carbon chamber. its hella loud.

yeah resonator out is the go.
its fkn stupid though.

they made is so you suck air from ur engine bay under the battery, goes down to the resonator, then continues up to ur panel filter etc.

Mine is rippoed out, and is sucking air from the hole where the resonator was, so much better.

ok so im assuming i dont have an oil pressure problem if im getting the same results as you guys. oh well cbf fixing it, new engine in 12(ish) weeks :)so yeah any advice on LED bulbs for the cluster?

mate, i doubt u have an oil pressure prob.

U can make vtec alot louder by ripping out a resonator, will take you 20min with the right tools, and 1hour tops if u dont have an idea what ur doing.
took me 2 days as it rained halfway through grrr

anyways, changing the bulbs in ur guage cluster isnt too difficult, however its a fair bit of effort in removing peices to get to the bulbs.

there are countless number of threads relating to the best way on how to get to ur guage cluster.

Do not listen to anybody if they say you need to take out ur steering wheel, load of shit.
anyways, for the bulbs, they can be bought prob supercheap/autobahn, if your after a specific colour, go to http://australianauto.com.au/
will almost certainly have the colour ur after.

haha yeah my resonator was the first thing i did like 2 days after i bought the car. but im saying if you dont have an air box, and an open pod instead, its not as loud (well vtec crossover anyways). yeah ive takem my cluster out countless times to install eg6 cluster faces, install a tacho, check the size of the bulbs etc etc, but yeah just wondering if you can take the oem globes out of the little brown plastic things (toshiba) that hold them in place?

yeah, thats because its short ram.
It should still be as loud tho....

Long ram cai sounds better than stock box with resonator out.
as for the bulbs, im sure i saw som1 on this forum replace em.

Yes you can, i took mine out but gave up and went to stock bulbs after the leds kept blowing

i have an AEM SRI, on a d16y1, with a 3Aracing exhaust, basically, at around 4700, the intake OPENS up haaaaaaaaaaard, in terms of a pull of power, nothing special... can definently hear the diffrence from the engine bay but... and on idle, my intake hisses alot.

loud at idle? ive got a power chamber too.. cant hear my pod at idle.. only when i fang it.
