Hey all.............question does the h22a rev well? I mean as opposed to a b18c. In short i have an ek civic and i want to replace the sohc engine. I want na power as petrol prices are becoming ridiculous. So is the h22a's extra horsepower worth the extra weight and possibly fuel consumption?; Or would a lightly tuned b18c be more fun around town.

Yes an H22A does rev, albeit with a lower redline than a b18c/5/7.

I've been lucky enough to drive EKs with B18C and H22A motors. If drag racing is your thing, than an H22A is great. Surprisingly, the extra weight wasn't as bad as expected, however I've never driven an h22a civic on the track.

Personally I went with a B18C. Cheaper to install (less headaches), more aftermarket parts, and great all-round characteristics.

im thinking b18c as speedracer said more revs, more fun around town...its not going to be dragged very often!

the b18c would DEFINATLY be more fun around town.. the h22a in a 1300kg 4th gen prelude is fast enough for around town, a h22a in a 900kg ek would be crazy around town .. and correct me if im wrong, im 95% sure u cant use the power steering if u do the civic> h22a swap due to the extra weight and engine bay space ..

Id definatly go the b18c .. ive got a b16a in my eg and that is already a high reving engine that is fast fast fast on the street... a b18c (especially if its a b18cR :P) would be sweet IMO..
