CF Bonnet depends on how the cops feeling on that day :p

and tacho's aren't a defect, it's only the placing of them that are

Correct me if im wrong but I thought they could get you for the pins as it's considered pedestrian hazard... might want to ring the RTA info line on that one though.. I don't think the cf bonet would be a prob though..

yep cf is a defect, some cops dont give a shit,

BUT there's a way of hiding cf bonnets.. but it might = to a waste ....but yeh by painting over it with a coated black paint, as it looks like a black bonnet.. this is playing the safe way, pins im not too sure but i see alotta cars have them, i dont see why u cant have them too!

CF Hoods can be legal, some are, some aren't. It comes down to quality and design.

Please search 'General NSW Modification Guidelines'.

Have an Engineering Signatory inspect the CF hood you want to purchase and ensure it is ADR compliant. You will have to pay for that service.

You will receieve a certificate stating it is complaint to the relevant ADRs.

I found a thread written by bayani:

Carbon Fibre Bonnets / Trunks / Panels

Are they legal? This answer is not as simple as Yes and No.

These are the conditions:

A Carbon Fibre Panel (being a Hood, Trunk or Fender) may be only fitted if it is ADR Approved, OR it if there is an Engineering Signatory that has signed off on said panel attached to your vehicle as being within the rules of the relevant safety guides.

The issues lay with the following:
Hinges : The area connecting to the Hinges to the Bonnet / Trunk must be sturdy & safe.
Latches : The latch / catch system used to prevent the bonnet / trunk opening. (Well know systems include the Bonnet Pin System)

To ensure your Carbon Fibre Panel is complaint, look for ADR approved Caborn Fibre Hoods. Do NOT buy cheap imitations. Whilst they are tempting as cheap alternatives to the real-deal, they are a CONSIDERABLE risk to both your safety, and the safety of others.

This was RTA Confirmed.
There is no legislation proclaiming that CF panels are illegal, but they MUST conform to particular standards.
