best thing is to have a quick look at the headlight itself. should be a marking on top saying which one it is.

quickest thing is to look in the car manual book.

because the 2004 facelifted version is a HB4 fyi.

it's the one b4 the facelifted version - hmm - i think the ballast was touching the engine bay so could that cause it not to work ??

yeah your ballast should be in DIRECT contact with any parts of the car trying putting your ballast on a piece of something non-metal to see if it works.

i did this ti my gf's VI.
At first mine did not work also. Make sure that you pluged in the old headlight plug into the HID, this acts as a trigger.

The other thing is to make sure you have a good earth. Some of the bolts on the VI seem to not earth properly.

First time i earthed it to the car i had this problem as some of the bolts screw into plastic threads and do not touch the chassis. After i found a proper earth it was fine. It has 2 earths per ballast right?

yea i'll try and make sure that there is no metal touching the ballast ...

limbo: yea i plugged the old headlight plug into the HID hmmm i haven't checked how many earths are on the ballast - but i think there are 2 ... not 100%... what did u you use as a earth ??

cause this is my gf's car and one of her headlights are out so wanted to get the HID's in asap ... haven't had much luck so far

just used the bolt that hold the headlight in place those bolts earth

Should be one earth per ballast and then the +ve & -ve

so once i re-earth the whole thing it'll be fine ....

one thing you may find is, that some kits, the plug and play ones for the h4, are incorrectly pinned.

Where are you going wrong??

A LIMBO said........The components should just plug in. Theres a H4 style plug which you hook up to original loom and theres two red and two black which you hook up to positive and negative, simple as! At worst hook directly to the battery terminal!

It doesnt matter how the ballast is mounted! It should work!

yea i was thinking that - but i thought that the lights were trigged to turn on through the H4 style plug.. cause it's a hi/lo blub and the hi beam works it's just the HID that doesn't turn on

Yeah my ballast are mounted in the side of the car.
In the VI the side fenders are open and they are siting in there. My ballasts are touching metal no probs there
