QUESTION:

well i don't know about the caliper clearance but i know 7 inch wide with +35 offset wheels fit under my ek. that would be the give the most room of the lot and would be the safe bet unless you were after slimmer track width?

Another member has Regamasters (same design?) +38 who just clears by a couple millimeters.
So +35 should definitely clear!

But i m worry 35 will touch the guard....

either roll your guards, or create some crazy ass camber.

+35 wont touch. unless ur car is slammed to the floor haha. im running +35 on my EG civic, and the front wheels are cambered in. no touching at all. but then integras have a bigger wheel arch n all so there wont be any problems

i'm running +35 on mine and had to roll the rear guards, fronts are fine.
mind you my car is kinda low though.

something i found out the other day, tyre choice makes a difference too.
my old tyres kumho v700 have really squared off edges, which rub n scrub sometimes.
but the design of my new tyres (toyo t1r) is rounded on top which gives you more room for dumpness.

something for you to consider :D

it wont touch the guard if u have tyres like 195/50/15r.

plus u ll get camber too if u lower it to the point the tyresits even with the guard or is tucked under the guard.

i run +32 offset with tyres 205/50/r15 and my fronts are tucked under the guard. no rubbing mate

if u've got the bigger brakes, 35 is best off.

lower offsets looks better too IMO.
cant you try one on?

No , I dun have a chance.

I did abit research about the offset. & I found out either is 35 or 40.

I believe 35 sure will clear the caliper, but how about the guard there? I am worry this offset will roll the guard.

therefore, offset 40 will be the 2nd option if 35 roll the guard.

I will low my car to minimum legal height limit in future.

What kinda car is it anyways?
rolling your guards is a piss easy job, cheap too. if its done right, you wont be able to tell its rolled anyways...

Even with a +40, if your gonna lower the car i would still recommend rolling the guards.

Are you gonna be running camber as well?
if so then go even lower offset haha!

Im not familiar with what your wheels are but let me put it to you this way:

say you go +40 option, your potential problem is wheel hits brake caliper.
say you go +35 option, your potenital problem is wheel scrubs guard lip.

im assuming you wont be able to exchange the wheels once you get them.

Its always easier to have the rim scrubbing the guard lip, then to have it hitting the brakes, at least it can be easily resolved should you have a problem( with some light guard rolling which you yourself could probably do at home! opposed to having to run spacers for brake clearance)

hope you can understand that :)

regarding to my little research, Spoon (SW 888)offset 40 to clear the caliper with 16".

Do I need to keep stick with 16" offset? or another new offset due to now I am looking for 15"?

I dun prefer to roll my guard if have alternative options, some time I read some oversea magazines, those dc2rs also no need to rolling guards..

Im guessing thats about 2 1/2 finger from the guard to the tyre ...

16" or 15" doesnt have a factor in offset. only width.

i ran +35 15x6.5 regas on my jdm dc2r (4x114.3) and it clear 98 spec brakes.
didnt have any scrubbing issues what so ever, car was lowered too .. i only had 1 finger gap from the guard to the tyre..

just buy 1 wheel. any cheapo wheel that is 15x7 +40 or whatever and test it etc etc.

calculate offset is another way of determining scrubage or a point of view.

jdm itr wheels - 15x6 +50. the wheels u want - 15x7 +40 = its gunna extend out 23mm. measure 23mm outwards from the tyre

too much talk n questions i say, u need to get ur hands dirty.

Yeah , my car is also a jdm dc2r. I did the base job (ARP extended studs in front side) to prepare this kind of width offset problem.

But, now my target is Spoon caliper, will 98 spec brakes caliper dimensions will be alot bigger then 96 Spec ? bigger by how many ? what if compare with spoon caliper ?

does +35 15x6.5 & +35 15x7 X-factor will be the same length ?

dynosaur

does 15x7 can fit in the tyre ranges between 195/50, 205/50 and 215/50 ?

98 spec brakes extend 5mm outwards towards the wheels. i think .. have to check tomorrow.

old, 15x6.5 +35. new, 15x7 +35. = outer wheel will extend an extra 6mm. the more width the more its gunna extend out.

215/50 will look silly as. 205/50 looks not that bad, but 195/50 looks perfect. most ppl run 195/50

some1 could upload some photo of 15x7 , offset 35 & offset 40 ? (appreciate to share with OH members)

JDM DC2-R (96 Spec) would be good or AUDM......

many many thanks :)

why on earth are you gonna spend like $2k on Spoon brake calipers and then rock fake (ROTA) rims ???!?!?!?!!! unless you've done everything else, forget the calipers IMO..

Maybe in 2008 calipers were cheaper and rims were expensive? Possible? :p
