Hi what are every one's thoughts about an apexi neo for the honda euro 03 which has a cat back exhaust a custom CAI. Autobarn is sellign them for around $600. Does it really get me much gain? Does it need to be professionally tuned? Also what are your thoughts on this statement.

" Removing a piping and the box at the bottom of the current stock intake will give you the same amount of air as a Kand N CAI and the same sound therefore giving you the same amount of performance as it is increasing the air flow the same waqy as a CAI intake does?

Any help would be great."

first of al dont buy shit through autobarn. there are AFC neos on ebay between 400 - 500.

I think they can be used for pretty good gains but they need to be tuned by a professional. otherwise its useless...

as for the standard airbox, removeing all the pipework after the filter may help with restriction, but still the filter isnt not anywhere near the surface diameter of a quality pod style filter. Some people though have been retrofitting pod filters inside the standard airbox though, in replacemnt of the standard panel filter. Keeps the factory look

AFC Neo doesn't support changing the VTEC point on i-VTEC engines.

DON'T USE IT!!!
AFTER couple of min of redline (e.g track), it will give u an error code, and limit your rev to 5500rpm and no vtec for like the next 30min.

Apexi NEO is an ok product, function wise it is a little better than the SAFC2/VAFCii except for the screen. It does have the capability to drive an external solenoid like basic VTEC or NOS or shift light. However, when used with cars with i-VTEC, it does not have the camshaft and TDC (top dead sensor) sensor inputs so it has a compatibility issue which was never updated.
Pretty much used only for its fuel delivery correction, actually Manifold Absoulte Pressure (commonly known as MAP) sensor voltage input correction. Changing this input voltage causing car's ecu to respond by increasing or decreasing fuel delivered to engine. Also, its additoinal functions are just RICE, with no real advantage and making something so simple extremely awkward to use. Screen is colour and looks nice though.

My opinion...... Maybe some others as well too :D

If the apexi neo doesn't control the i vtec then its really not worth what your paying for is it????? What should you buy that controls both air flow and i v tec?

On the Apexi website, it says it is not compatible for controlling i-VTEC on i-VTEC engines.
