WTFSIR

ive gathered enough funds for my project... and thought it would be better to transplant a k20a into an EF since the body shell is lighter... but im not sure weather or not it is possible... please any comments or help?...
thanks

considered b18c?
WTFSIR

yeah... but i thought since ive got the funds might as well go the bigger brother.. then something littlier!!... since im after a 12sec car...
what times would a b18c do in an 900kg shell?...

seems like EF share similar chassis with EG and EK, if they do, then k20 should fit.
WTFSIR

but engine mounts would be different or the same?... or would custom mounts be needed ???

you gotta use new engine mounts that suits K20, Hasport has them.
Been done many times.
I know of 2-3 ED/EFs with them in NSW.
But question is, how deep is your pockets.

EF k20 has been done countless amount of times in the US. If you got a spare 13-15k then K20 or k24/k20 is your answer
WTFSIR
24-02-2008, 10:07 PM
so 13-15k would be for the k20a?...
how much more would it be for a k24/k20?...
lets just say the whole project $$$ is around the 25k area.... =]]]]

k20 into EF will cost abit...but well worth it.
Ever considered b20/vtec?

25k for just the engine conversion? or a total package? i.e suspension, brakes and etc
WTFSIR
24-02-2008, 10:09 PM
yeah alot of people have suggested the b20 in the EF...
but how fast for the quater will a b20 run?...
since im after alot of speed... so i can run with the turbo boys.... and show them what VTEC's can do!! :D

if you're really into it, why not K20 head with K24 block and built internals.

how much would a conversion be for that?...
because thats similar to what the red del sol crx is running right?...

I guess it depends on how much u want to spend (they can do everything there), but obviously if u want to save more $$$, prolly just the engine conversion you do there.

yep, I've gone there many times. and also seen alot of conversions, suspension installation, tuning, electricals they did to various Hondas. he drives a H22A powered EG himself, that car is farken quick!

Beautiful!!... Thanks for the advice... but apart from modproject... would u know any others around since im trying to find the best but the cheapest at the same time?... lol
do u know how fast his H22A eg is running?....

there are couple of others around, like AK motorworks, Racing Project, Motorware, Chasers, Wardwhile motors. but I don't have any idea on how they are with their conversions.
if I'm not mistaken, this EG is running 13's

i never knew that there were that many modifiers that were able to do conversions in melb.... lol
but out of all of them... how many would u recommend that would supply best service of parts plus installlation.... with the best price...
have u personally been to them for anything?...
damn... and eg running 13's is fuknnnnnn quickkk.... but his car would be worked to the max if he works for modproject!!... lol

at this stage, I'm confident about Modproject. you can try Chasers too, if you want (but they work alot on different cars as well, while modproject is mostly Hondas)
I go to Wardwhile for services, Chasers last time (before I know Modproject) for some wiring issues.
yeah that EG is Bao's (one of the co-owner of the business)
his username on Ozhonda is Bowser.

You cant have the best of both worlds.
If you want quality workmanship and parts then its going to cost you
If you want to pay peanuts then your not going to get quality workmanship nor parts
If you have the money go for a K series over a B or H
Grab an engine mount kit from Hasport and drive shafts
Obviously you'll need the K engine, gearbox, ecu and harness
Then you'll need new shift linkage and exhaust
And you'll be pretty much set from there I think

Will also need full race style traction bar as you cannot run the standard front subframe.
Will have to cut bits and pieces in places. Also will require something like a JDM SIR hood to clear a K20A

not even the SIR bonnet will clear the k20.my mate has tried and failed cos the engine doesnt sit rite in the middle of the engine bay its more to the left, so custom bonnet is the only way.
WTFSIR: my mate is currently in the process of this, should be completed shortly.im pretty sure he will post up when its all completed.

i know i will get flamed for saying this, but sumone with a 2grand commodore and 25g in cash could get a car a lot faster down the quarter mile.. i love my integra but if your really after a car that fanged down the quarter mile why would you drive a four banger? I definatly wouldnt since i dont have anywhere near enough money to keep up with the commies/falcons that have had the same amount of money dumped into the engine... I know there are lots of fast hondas but how much money have they had dumped into them to put them in that league?
I like the more "all roudness" of a teggy over a falcon... petrol consumption, better handling, far nicer features etc..
But back to the topic, hell yeah a k20/24 in a ef! It would be a nice sleeper if you have the dosh :)

I Currently drive in EF2 with a B16a... =]....
fast enough to beat the V6's... but not the V8's and Turbos....
that why my next setup will be to race with the big boys!! :D

my mate used to have an BA mkII XR6 ute... i had the euro... both cost around the same.... we both spent about the same on exhaust/intake.... i beat him multiple times...
now if he spent 20k on his.... and i spent 20k on mine... i reckon theyd still be pretty close... yes he would beat me... but how many done up XR6s are there? thousands... how many fast euros are there? not many.... its not always about, slap a turbo or a v8 in and smash people... because its not all about size lol :p
just my two cents :D

i havent bothered reading any posts but it is possible. there are several k-powered ef's in the states. i know online has fitted one to an ed9 crx over the last year or so too.
it's very possible but do some research on what kinda parts and $$$ is required, to save some headaches in the future

Go to ktuned, k20a.org or http://www.hybrid-racing.com/
They should more or less guide you to the appropriate parts that you need. In fact, HR offers packaged deals.

think over the swap you best get a B20 built up with Hondata ecu
fit bigger brakes from Da9 Integra, ef8 crx and ef9 civic at the front (ef2,3,5/ed3,6,9 are 242mm disc conpair to Da9 intergra, ef8 crx and ef9 civic 262mm)
get some good coilovers and find LSD diff for your b series box to get all of that power to the ground
I hear someone say that when you put a k series into a ef/ed it through out the balance if the car and chassis feel different due the engine on the right hand side of the car to what it was stock on th Left hand side
My 2 cents go B20 may only cost you around 10-12k with all the extra's i have listed
Would get a 13sec 1/4 mile time maybe better
You will have more fun car for the dollars you spent than throwing 15-25k to get extra 2sec that not used able on the street without losing your License
Just by 2cents
