hey guys,

im changing to a water to air intercooler to reduce lag on car and at the same time make it less obvious to police that the civic is a turbo...

im curious if anyone here has this setup?

also do you guys know if i can just use any electric water pump and radiator?

its an expensive way to go, I looked into this a lot but in the end, to do it properley you are looking at about $1500 all up including piping. unless you have severe space restrictions not many people use it. IMO, if you want to avoid cops paint the cooler black, the lag reduction will be minimal on a good setup.

where you mounting it?

i've seen one in a RX7 at the front of his engine bay but it just looked like a giant cat with two hoses on the top
the piping was so crazy short.... there must not be much lag there at all

wow $1500... it cost me $300 for all the parts :/

$100 for librety water to air cooler
$100 for pump
$100 for radiator with fan

id mount the radiator in the front with a thermal fan on it, theres plenty of room between the front bar and the existing radiators....

it would defenitly reduce lag, pressuring 1/3rd of the piping i have at the moment would take alot less tme... im running a t04e which lags alot...

plus im curious to learn from this....

interesting, let us know how you go. I've never really seen one at work or if they are efficient

Liberty coolers dont really work that well. Ive seen a back to back comparison with a standard a2a and they suffered quite high IAT's.

And it wont reduce lag by more then 500rpm. It depends how badly designed your current setup is.

I said to do it properly, but hey you can be inventive and do it for a lot less. what kind of pump have you got? I have heard of some being annoyingly noisy and unreliable.

BTW I am not trying to discourage you (sounds like it...) I would love to see a good cheap setup like this done just for something different.

heres a laminova cooler setup click the link came across it cos lasky did a nice little dart block build and used the water cooler here.. this was a few years ago -one of the greatest builders ever, unfortunatley he passed away (RIP). These type are common in supercharged setups.
