Awesome Product!
This is on my 96EK1 Civic Sedan. It will fit most if not all cars because the adjustment from narrower to wider is great. It was silver/crome and I painted it black  Cost $170 AU

Looks good man, I had mine in for about 3 months. I have sold it now, in my opinion the handling benifits didn't justify the 4kg weight of the bar...But then mine was a no name one. Pretty sure mine was a cheapy, i got mine from the states.

Did you just bolt only the seatbelt bolt through the end brackets or did u put another bolt into the frame of your car on the other side of the bracket. If u did that i reckon it would make a difference, but with just the seatbelt bolt it allows to much flex.

I sold it to my friend and he fitted it to his Ford AU falcon. It does look hot though :)

^^ ditto. what i want to know also

did you have to cut your trim?

beeza
28-02-2008, 02:32 PM
Yeah it is a bit weighty,I think about the 4kg mark too.
I bolted it into the inner chasis of the car,I used 3 bolts on each side.I tightened it as much as I possibly could. It's solid as.I notice it the most say when U go off or onto a driveway, the normal twisting feeling and sometimes creaking sound is gone. It's real firm now.

Thank U and thank U for telling me it would fit before.U we're right! :)

thanks for the bar Marko. i have to say i am very happy with the feeling of the car after installing this bar. it is exactly the same as the one in beeza's expcept i sprayed mine with a charcoal hammer finish epoxy enamel for hard wearing paint than normal pressure pack stuff. it bolted straight into the bolts that hold the lower part of the seat belt mount. pics. sorry low light when taken.

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1931/2812081839li2.jpg

driving impressions:

first off my car is a 92 eg on pedders red springs kyb agx shocks 1 step down from hardest setting, 22mm RSB, stock 21mm FSB, front castor kit and upper wishbone swap (almost 5 degrees castor) rear camber kit and no other braces. car immediately felt different. from leaving the driveway. felt harder. i could feel each corner of the car follow the bumps in my driveway more harder. weird to explain but it felt strange.

after taking it for a burl around the hood it was apparent that it almost felt flatter in the fact that the front was more responsive with less dive and more dart. this was only a quick drive.

the next day after a good bit of daily driving and some spirted ones i feel i can definately feel the increased chassis stiffness. the car feels more agile. it feels as tho it takes less time to shift weight side to side. so with this chicane like corners are quicker but mid corner speeds are uneffected. tho mid corner speed hasn't increased it feels more sure footed and mid corner adjustments are more solid and direct.

with my increases castor is feels more go kart like than ever with harder pull to centre and higher response.

it feels too that oversteer and understeer properties have both been increased making it easier to induce both with on/off throttle and braking, much like i've increased the roll resistance front and rear. i got my car the furtherest i've had it sideways but yet it was smooth and controlled unlike past cars that were snappy. traction was gradually lost and gained tho this may be my skill with front and rear weight shift getting better tho as i've got a new corner to practice on the way home from work most days. but it did feel more predictable than purely increasing roll resistance front and rear.

as i mentioned earlier i have no other braces at present but the increase in chassis stiffness i felt with this bar felt different to adding a strut braces as it had an effect on the whole car just not that area. whereas adding a front brace for example increased understeer but made the front more reactive to inputs and reat strut vice versa this had an affect similar to both at the same time but to a lesser degree. so with this in mind adding this bar to an already braced car might yield a lesser effect or may yield more as there would be more stress on the middle section to be braced.

i'll be adding my front and rear braces in a week once they arrive by then i'll get a good feel of the setup now then compare it after those bars. maybe down the track i might take out the floor bar compare it with out.

i rate it as a good buy! definately worth it you don't mind whinges from rear passengers over lost leg room.

Awesome review!

You really described the effects of the bar really well!

Like we said,it will be different for different cars with different combination braces but there is no reason why this bar shouldn't be in the list of choices of braces to have on your ride because the brace has very good benefits.

Well done!

btw It Looks HAWT!!!

in tune with my car man.

i really like the hammer finish paint. its the same sorta finish as toolboxes etc with that dimpled look. wanted a hard wearing finish cos it'll always be getting stepped on etc.

its bout 13 bucks from bunnings in the paint section with rust stopper etc. epoxy enamels are a 1 part enamel that is more durable than the usual export paints etc for $2 a can. i suggest a good etch primer too. always sand prime paint ftw

Are you just stupid or are you playing dumb didn't you read my last post that was only 2 posts above yours

The answer to your question is no I'm not trying to be funny I would actually be interested in something like this for saftey reasons. You see I have a 2 yearold son that I'm concerned about. My car being an ek4 there is no rear centre mounting point for a baby seat and this means he has to sit to the side. This worries me incase of a side impact accident as being on the edge there is no room for the body of the car to crush in

Yes they may not look the best and yes I did call it's sexy but my comment was was more related to function (saftey) aswell as being polite

So please don't mistake my politeness for arrogance or humour

I too thought it would look out of place and didn't want it there but I went ahead with the mod hoping the benefits would out weigh that.
Well on my car there are major benefits with having this bar in and it did not take me long to want to have a little sqiz at it and admire how Tuff it looks.Ohhhh Yeahhhh Sex-ay-ness!!

1 If you are polit, you won't call other people stupid.
2 my comment was only refer to how the bar looks and not how it function.
3 I rly thought you guys were been funny. coz... functionality aside, this mods ain't a looker.
4. for safty, this ain't going to imporve any thing, on a side impact, the bolts on both end could fly off, and you can get people who seat in the car hurt badly. you want do it right? go for a half roll cage. or for the safety of your son, get an accord or some thing.

Gio don't take shit from noone. hahah.

I think they look good. If your car is built for performance then this bar will definately look good in its place.

I'd like one for my del sol but i can't imagine the civic bar fitting without cutting through my center console (so not doing that).

I would probably have to get something custom made (more expensive then 170 thats for sure).

Will be getting new front and rear strut bars soon (ultra racing 2 points) to try and make the car a bit stiffer. I think if i need any more stiffness i'll seemweld the bloody thing! :p

i'd actually like an X bar

beeza

Jase, the bar is universal,so it should fit.

X bar looses alot of the boot room. It is better but abit of work also to install.
With a 2 yr old i'd thought you'd wanna maximise more boot space.

Thanks Breeza, i can't actually post pics at work. They block alot of the picture upload sites

my 2 yearold wont be in a pram

when he gets sick of walking i carry him

plus pram/stroller doesn't really fit into the back of a ek4 :thumbdwn:

so usually there isn't much in the back

Yeah its universal for the width of the car. However in the del sol the center console goes behind the seats of the car and stays quite high (alot higher then the exhaust tunnel in the car).

So if it was too fit i think it would be too low to make it over my center console. The width would be fine though.

To give you an idea i think the bar would need to go about as high as the back seats (the bit you put your ass on) in order to clear my dash etc)

another tip too is the seat belt are mounted on very thick shims. either remove these or put a solid oject the same thickness behind the bar.

Beeza did you just tighten the bar as tight as you could? i did. so this bar is only really effective against compression.

beeza
06-01-2009, 10:06 AM
Yeah, tighten it as hard as possible. My tip is to NOT use one of those screwdrivers where you can swap it to phillips head or flathead i.e. removeable handle.I did and when I was tightening it the handle came off and I put a huge cut strait down the palm of my hand :o

Affective against compression in an accident but the idea is to make the car more solid, which it definately achieves in the sedan and hatch!! The OH boys have proved this now :)
