I'm looking into getting a new set of rubber bushes for my car as some need replacing.

Would anyone know the size of the front and rear sway bars for a 1995 Honda Accord Vti. I've searched but I haven't found an answer. Google isn't being very friendly either.

From what I can gather, the front can be either 22mm or 25mm in diameter, and the rear can be either 14mm or 15mm in diameter.

Thanks all.

Thanks sugz. I'll assume that the rears are 15mm, as nobody seems to list a 16mm sized bush for the rear bar. Have to ask though, are those figures for a VTi? I'm getting mixed reports from the Seppos who have different sizes depending on whether it's an LX/DX/EX/whateverX...

I measured the bars today:

Rear - 15mm
Front - 27mm(!)

Has anyone else had the same strange result?

do you measure the circumference of the bar?

No, I need the diameter. I've scoured the Haynes manual and the service manual but no banana.

I used a 15mm spanner on the rear bar, and used a shifter and ruler on the front. The 15mm spanner was a perfect interference fit but the measuring using a shifter was a smidge vague. It's definitely wider than 25mm though.

i believe its 16mm at the rear too... but whether its 16 or 15mm... there is enough give in the bushes for that 1mm...

i put on a whiteline 18mm rear sway 4 days ago...didnt get a chance to measure the old one...

to OP: how much bushes cost yar??? it only cost about 180 for a 18mm rear sway.. that comes with new bushes....and i have to admit those 2mm made a difference in handling for the good =D

I thought the CD5 / CB7 Whiteline rear ARB was 19mm?

FWIW, the CB7 rear ARB is only 14mm, the front is 25.5mm (measured with a vernier caliper). I thought the CD5and CB7 had identical suspensions, obviously not quite.

CB7_Owner: Due to our phenomenal exchange rate, I bought an Energy Suspension master kit and threw in sway bar to chassis bushes front and rear for a grand total of ~$180AUS delivered. I'm more interested in refreshing my 13 year old rubber bits so i didn't go for a new bar altogether. The only issue is that I will have to bore out the front 25mm bushes with a drill bit to fit. We'll see how that goes.

JohnL: The rear sway is definitely 15mm on the CD5, and the front bar is either 26mm or 27mm, depending on which way my eyes are crossed at the time.

Poly bushes? My bet is it won't be easy (if it's actually possible), especially with the slot in the bush wanting to grab the drill bit.

I had to modify some poly 'D' bushes to fit my rear ARB, not by drilling for a larger OD bar but by filing the outside so they would fit inside the clamps. After a couple of hours filing (with a new course file) they finally fitted...

I'm not exactly looking forward to the job either. If this fails, I might stump for a pair of locally sourced SuperPro front sway bar D bushes instead ($21). But as I've already paid for the order, I might as well give it a try.

The harder the bush plastic the easier (i.e. less impossible!) to drill oversize I expect. Softer plastic will be more 'grabby' and tend to push away from the bit and not cut (you'll need a sharp bit).

I'd try and set the bush up in the clamp in some manner. You might have to make a plate to which the clamp can be fitted with the bush installed while you (attempt) to drill it out. Failing this you might need to file it out with a new sharp coarse half-round file...
