Hey guys just wondering how much you ep3r owners are paying for insurance? and who you are insured with? I'm under 25 so just wondering if insurance is going to be alot seein the car is imported. I've already checked with NRMA and theres no way they are insuring an ep3 :p thanks for the help!!

Just car insurance will insure EP3, you'll need to contact them for a quote as your circumstances (postcode you live, driving history etc) will be different to others. AFAIK the insurance for EP3 is a lot better than for other imports.

You'll need an Aust. compliant alarm/ immobiliser to be covered for theft of any import with JCI (possibly all insurers, I'm not sure).

I'd try Shannon's first.

FYI you'll find that all companies will want you to have a garage and 3 point immobiliser, aust standard ofcourse. Shannons and just cars are on par. Alternatively try Vigil and Dawes. Depending on you age and record i'd still be expecting 1.5 - 2k easy.

Hope this helps!

thanks everyone for the input! i just got a pretty decent quote from Just Car..Excess would be 1,700 and 1,661 annual premium. Can anyone vouch for Just Car as a good insurer??

To be able to get insurance with Shannons all drivers must be over 25 years old :( i think i'll probably just go with justcar

U sure? im sure when i started my policy a few years back with Just Car, i tried Shannons and im sure they said i had to be 25.

Try vigil and dawes guys. May be a little cheaper, depending on your circumstances. Theres more than shannons and justcars out there. Shop around. I saved $600 just by dropping the premium from 30K to 25K. All depends on how and where you drive the car I suppose.

Just looking on the Shannon's website now it says:

We can provide you with a online premium estimate if:
* You are the registered owner of the car.
* Your car has no pre-existing or unrepaired damage and is in a good state of repair (except for Laid Up cover only).
* Your car is for private use.
* Your car is valued at $50,000 or less.
* Your car is not for business use.
* Your car has been insured in the last 30 days.
* All drivers are aged 25 years or over.
* None of the drivers have lost or had their licence suspended in the last 5 years.
* None of the drivers have had a vehicle stolen or written off in the last 5 years.
* None of the drivers have had any insurance cancelled or refused.
* None of the drivers have had more than 2 motor accidents (including fire & theft) in the last 5 years.
* None of the drivers have had more than 4 traffic infringements &/or offences (excluding parking fines) in the last 5 years.
* None of the drivers have had criminal convictions in the last 5 years.
* You are currently not bankrupt or in receivership.

I think i'll just give them a call tomorrow and see what they can do.

i am looking at my policy now. it has an age excess for under 25(only $400) and in the pds it mentions drivers under 25 so they definitely insure under 25's. I have only had 1 speeding fine though since getting my license so that probably has something to do with it as well.

i'm sure Shannons insures under 25s. a know a few under 25 MX5 owners are getting insurance with Shannons.

just got a quote from Shannons and i was shocked.

i'm over 30, rate 1 and clean history, no claim, no other drivers.

agreed value at $30k, premium is $759.95 with $400 excess.

this is cheaper than the Jazz i'm paying with RACQ (which has my wife's name but still clean history and no claim)

i also got a quote a few months ago for a 2000 Aus DC2R which i was looking at buying. agreed value of $20k, premium is a little over $1k.

I just called up shannon earlier and they told me i had to have 5 years driving experience or had done driving training of some sort to be insured with them. In the end ive opted for JustCar insurance, annual payments of $1615 and excess of $3,600!!

Thanks everyone for their feedback and help!

Shannons can be inconsistant sometimes. so best to call again for another operator if u have problem.
