Hi everyone, i just picked up my EP3 last week. It went insane on the first day that i picked it up. However, after pumping a full tank of Mobil 98, it seems not going as fast as it was. For all EP3 owners, just wondering what fuel do you use? Thanks.

bp ultimate is better than the Shell v-power?

i'm not sure, what octan is v-power? ultimate is 98 and we don't get v-power in w.a.

Your probably just used to the power ;)

I try and use BP or Mobil. May be you put standard mobil premium??

Still, I cant see much performance difference between the 98ron fuel really. Just use what you think is best.

You could risk a tank of V-power racing if you can find it. That's 100 RON and 5% ethanol.

shit yeah v-power racing, ive got a crumb of an engine (d16y) and it feels so much better with v-poer racing. its probably killing my pistons though. but yeah shell v power is 98ron, same as bp ultimate

You shouldn't feel any difference in a d16y though... Maybe it's just cleaning it out a bit because of the ethanol.

i noticed a bit of difference when i used vpower racing in my ep3. When vtec kicked in it just had a bit more of a kick. But i only use bp ultimate now. Car runs good on it. Reason why im not going to b using much of vpower racing is because i heard the ethanol can eat at ur fuel lines. Wish it didnt do that because that fuel makes my car roar ! ! Might use it on a track day mayb

(according to a ethanol brochure from Mobil , Fuel with ethanol is completely safe for cars after 1986. This includes your EP3 :)

(dont know exactly what changed after 86 - a ADR relevant to fuel lines ? )

This is the only situation where I'd recommend v-power racing, because those JDM EP3s are spec'd for 100 RON.

I use BP ultimate whenever possible. Was going to put in VPower yesterday, but it was all out at Bass Hill.

but would the 100ron in japan also contain 5% enthanol ??

if so i think i might starting use vpower racing again haha

I've been using V Power 98 ever since owning the car for the first 6 months. I would average about 500kms a tank.

I'm just about finished with my first BP Ultimate 98 tank and it's on 540kms.

I also noticed the car runs better with BP Ultimate but that just could be the cool air we've (Sydney) been having lately.

btw, not EP3 but FN2

I doubt that they have ethanol in their 100 RON. Japs always reserve the best for themselves (and they pay top dollar too)

Shortage. Why go V-power 98 RON when you have other better alternatives? I prefer Caltex Vortex98 and Mobil 8000.

While we're on this topic! Fark, I have just filled up on Vpower racing. $1.67 a litre WTF!

Anyway thought I'd give it a go. I had about 15 litres of mobile 8000 left in the car. Sure It'll mix up alright! First time ever in the EP. See how it goes?

Double R, I had always used BP ultimate up until a month or so ago. I went to mobil 8000 and I dont really think theres a difference, much the same!

Oh man. The fuel light is already on, just ONLY 400KM on the clock. Mobil 8000 fuel is not that good! For all EP3 owners, what's the average KM per tank? (i'm talking normal drive)

Only 400km? Sounds like too much vtak!

My July 07 FN2 averages 530km and about 480 when I'm hittin vtak a lot.

Could be the pump at the petrol station cutting out early and not filling your tank to the top. :)
To properly test, run a 2nd tank of Mobil 8000 and try a different station.

are u expecting too much??
lol

u should try calculating litres per 100km instead of how much it goes with 1 tank

anyway with my dc5s i get only a bit more than 400

V-Power racing isn't going to give you a power boost because of the 100ron rating. If anything, its just imaginary. Rather then using V-Power Racing just use 98ron fuel and you'll be fine. As for the ethanol eating away at your fuel lines, they're just rumours, unless you start using more then 20% in your fuel.

The reason why V-Power is out in NSW is because a few units at the refinary have died and the production of V-Power was ceased mid January. There was supposed to be a delivery 2 weeks ago but it was delayed and an eta hasn't been provided. However this does not affect the production of V-Power Racing.

Personally, i use Mobil 8000 petrol and i've been able to get around 480km-500km on a full tank, i barely ever hit v-tec, maybe once or twice a full tank.

U're right, just already filled up the V-Power racing. I don't feel any powerup but it costs me 1.67 per liter.

That's UK V-power. And it got beaten out by Tesco branded fuel in terms of consistency. Tesco is a supermarket brand!!! Doesn't help for V-power's image, aye?

Thx for sharing. I thought BP one is better than V-Power.

You can't make that decision based on that article actually. The BP fuel tested was 102 RON. Our BP Ultimate is 98 RON. They are different fuels.
