Hey guys just seeing what you guys keep in your tyres. I have 18" 215/35 what do you guys think i should be using? A mate a a tyre shop says about 35-37? This would be for daily driving not track use.

My mechanic told me 40 .. and im running 15" 215/45 Michellens

He said you'll get a bit of a bumpier ride but its better for fuel efficiency

He fixed up my car very very nice and knows honda very well so I trust him when he tells me that

for most UHP tyre you need to inflate it to atleast 38psi, that is the bare minimum for them to perform and wear properly.

what is UHP?

Ultra High Performance (16" and above & 55 series and below)

35-36 psi is a good pressure to have, so if you do some track work, u might have to let some air out after every session

this pressure is for dry track only,...for a wet track, u probably want to drop the pressure to a maximum of 30, gives you more grip.

I reckon for 18" 38-40 its better  , you wont buckle your wheels that easy, and good for the tyres as well will last longer . . . .

i jus got new 17 inch rims 205/40 R17s. they came at 47-48ish psi. i pumped it up to 50 cause they looked a little flat. am i doing serious damage to my tires?!!? i am scared now since everyone seems to be on 40 psi! :S

For a light car like your EK on the road high 40s definately too high let alone 50 psi. On the track with heavy cars like Soarers on 55 series tyres, 45-50 psi is fine. Too high pressure the tyres wears too fast on the centre of the tread surface, and could give you a much harsher ride though this might not bother you.

btw most road tyres has a max cold inflation pressure of 44psi or so stated on the sidewalls.

If it was my car I would try 34psi (cold) for the front and 30-31 psi (cold) for the rear. Since tyre pressure adj costs you nothing you could always try diff pressure settings, drive for a week or two to assess the pros and cons of each setting.

37psi front
35psi rear
195/50/15 tyres

perfect balance between grip/tyre wear/performance/comfort for my car

32psi is the recommoneded psi for stock tyers on me 97 civic from what i know, now i got michalen's 205/45/17x7, it was about 40psi when i got em from the shop i ended up dropin em 2 about 30psi (old man's orders) anyone with same tyre tell me what pressure there runnin?

Anything that is 50 Profile or lower should have 38psi or more. 55 profile and above should have 34-36 psi otherwise under inflation will occur. shoulders will wear quicker than the center of the tread as the tyre will role on the shoulders and wear them out.....

remember more is better

Should it vary from front 2 back?

Only when you load your car up but if you have them at what i stated thats good for all types of driving. obviously track work needs presures that are slightly higher to keep tyres cooler

it should say on the tyre where it has eg 205/40/17 den blah blah blah right after those info it should say

That's max cold tyre pressure, you don't want to go near that or suffer the consequences of a blowout.

LOL. so i went to check my psi(205/45r17) while on the way to buying hookah flavoring.
this thread got me curious, surprisingly
2 tyres were at 28 psi.
other one at 35 and the other at 41.
LOL. wth ><
i hope they arent leaking.

For tyres with 45 or less profile, keep them up at the 38-40max! (38 ideal imo) mark front and rear, for tyres with higher profile, 34-36 is a good place to be, I havent read through all the pages but when you are inflating your tyres, try not to do it after a drive, as the tyres get hot, hot air expands, and will give you a inaccurate reading (most likely a higher reading then what the actual pressure is at cold) when you go to the servo. If it hasnt been mentioned already.

rears are damn low lol

32psi all round for me. Specs are 15 x 7 with 195/50/15. Also have kept them at 32, and when i went in to get tyres they filled in the forms stating it was 32psi

tyrepower_adelaide

anything under 50 profile should be at 40-42 psi

anything above 50 profile should be 38-40 psi

this will give you maximum life from your tyre

i read sumwhere higher front psi vs lower rear psi.. promotes oversteer =) good for us FF drivers

RA1 odyssey stock everything was told to run 40psi cold pressure, may feel a lil bumpier but will get 1.5 to 2x tread life and better fuel efficiency.

was told this by owner of local rock bottom tyres, and from local owner of bob jane t-marts.

tyres are:- 205/65 R15 94H i think

was running 32psi warm pressure and tyres allways looked flatish.

cold pressure refers to no driving or driving less than 1.6km no faster than 60km/h

was also told if u cant check/inflate tyres at cold pressure to allow 5-10% ontop of your cold pressure ideal.
ie. if u want 35psi cold pressure, but check tyres after a highway run, reading should be about 38.5psi.

if after driving the car u want to check at cold pressure i read somewhere (in the honda manual i think) car should be left to sit for atleast 3 hours for tyres to cool down.

Running mine 225/45/R18 at 38 psi cold inflate, used to run at 32, then 35, all made the tire look flat, 38 seems good at this point
