Aim: To repaint OEM silver centre caps to match black powder coated
DC5 wheels

Required:

1 X Grey Scotch Pad
1 X Grease and Wax Remover (I used Prepsol)
1 X Enamel Matt Black Paint (I used VHT)
1 X Plastic Primer (I used K&H)

Steps:

1) Sand caps with grey Scotch pads to remove the shine off them.
2) Clean with Prepsol, and wipe off with a clean rag.
3) Spray with Plastic Primer with 2 light coats. Let each coat dry for about 10-15 minutes.
This will give the caps a light gloss shine as the pic below shows.

4) Spray with Matt Black with at least 3 light coats. Let each coat to dry for at least 10-15 minutes before next coat.

5) Once caps are dry they are ready to fit to wheel.

The stickers appear more orange in the pictures, but are really a red, close to the Milano Red on the car.

Other comments

As an added extra I ordered some custom made Honda logo stickers
from Danny @ www.vinylstickers.com.au. He made these
4 stickers to exactly the size I needed delivered to my house for $20.
They appear to be of good quality and would recommend them to other
ozhonda users. I cannot comment though on how strong/ durable they
are as I have just stuck them onto my centre caps today. I’m keen to
see how they go after daily wear and tear.

Not sure if this is useful for anyone, but if anyone is painting plastic and
follows a similar process they should get a good result.

I also got some Maxxis Super Cruisa tyres in 205/50/16....

Way better than the old ROH Adrenaline wheels I had, and these tyres are way better than the old Silverstones I had previously.....

I've just thought of this when looking at the pictures.
Instead of using the stickers which may peel or get peeled off, could you put the sticker on, spray paint and then remove the sticker? (so an undercoated colour shows through).

Not a bad idea.... I'll see how these stickers last after a while, then might consider your suggestion.... or I could just buy another set of stickers for $20 again, depending on how well they hold up....

PS - thanks for the positive comments so far....
