hey guys just wanted to ask how to change the gear knob and shift boot on my 1998 ej8, is there a special twisting action?
knob = lefty loosy and righty tighty.
shift boot = take centre console off? and look under the edegs of the shift boot.

Handbrake handle is hard to pull off, but it can be done.... when i took mine off i heated it up and struggled with it to rip the damn thing off! A mate of mine actually took a knife to his to take his off!

It can be done, just not the easiest.... usually stuck on there pretty good, not gonna slide off easily! but i put in an aftermarket handbrake handle and gearknob (all black, red stitching) and it looks really nice!

I can't remember if it's a plastic or a vinyl coating on the handbrake, but if it's vinyl... don't paint it, get vinyl dye from autobarn or repco...
I'm going to be buying a LOT of that stuff soon, Civic's interiour in grey starting to get a bit dated, gonna go black with red door inserts..... wannabe ctr ftw!

^^^ haha ive started mine already. so far ive just done like the inside of the hatch/boot in black, the centre console (with a dc2r gear boot) and since i have the cupholders one, ive also dont the lower part of the dash where the ashtray etc is. im waiting for my recaros to come before i start dying carpet/paint the doors and stuff. so you reckon you need vinyl dye? ive just been using vinyl paint from super cheap. so yeah back on topic. you screw the gearknob to the left. get a buddyclub type a gearknob, i ****ing love mine

^^^^ Nice! very sexytime...
So did you use vinyl dye?
bankids
06-03-2008, 03:16 PM
yep i used vinyl dye from repco or anywhere for the door trim, plastic and parcel shelf. later i gonna dye the carpet too.

So the dye worked alright on the plastics? I know it's designed to colour the vinyls, but wasn't sure about the hard plastic parts!
BTW, you gonna do the inside door handles black?

works fine just remember before you spray use some prepso or thinner to remove any grease.
as the car is candy red, i'm doing all the air vents, the aircon surrounding, door handles and some other bits to candy red aswell.

WHAAA 15k!???
What have you done, rims, lowered, mugen lip, respray hood, colour matched side mouldings, tint, personalised plates, interior... Either you've got something serious under the hood or you've been stooooged!
then again, my mates say REPCO stands for Rip Every Poor C*** Off!
