I got quoted $550 for the spraying of the FD Mugen lip kit (replica) including fitting for my black FD1 (2006 Civic) and can't help but wonder if I'm getting jilted. This is only for the lip kit incl front/rear underspoilers and skirts (not incl grille/wing/etc..). Any advice?

ps. I'm a Sydneysider

As a guide our dealership has a flat fee of $150 per panel from our smash repairer. I think what you're quoted is good value considering it includes fitting too. I'd run with it. What were you expecting?

If you're uncertain get a second quote but go with the guy you trust most. Even if it costs a little more.

Hmm.. all up including parts I'm looking at a bit under $1300 so maybe I should go ahead with it.

Bit of a change in topic but, if I were to get a replica Mugen kit fitted to my car, and I was going to sell/trade in my car, would it be easy to remove the lip kit to return the car to stock (so that I get a better trade-in?). Or am I better off leaving the lip kit on?

cheap, go ahead with it dude.
better off leaving it with the car, may leave some marks on the bar. and body, if it doesn't take it off.

it cost me 700$ to paint and fit a sinlge optional ITR skirt and a JDM front lip to my DC2 Vti-R

that included proper hand done moulding of the lip to the front bar so that it was all one peice

fitting optional side skirts can be done by yourself in under 10mins, as the skirts has brackets and clips that click into the original holes on the chassis.

spraying side skirts should cost at most $200

spraying lip at most would be $150

I don't think he'll give me much discount if I say "how much to paint; i'll fit myself" kinda thing. But if $550 is an alright price, then I'll go ahead with it.

With regards to removing the boykit on trade-in; do you think that'll be difficult? I want to be able to return the car to stock..

Does the replica fit perfectly? Some replicas require sanding to get the dimensions right. Ask if the $550 quote includes that.

that is cheap ... would expect more like $650--700 from most places.

i fit the original skirts with the guy at the shop and he didnt charge me as much, second time round i didnt have time and he had to paint it anyway so he juss did it for me

i think mine was pricey because of all the moulding he did by hand, he did an amazing job of it - it looked awsome =)

was only on there for one afternoon, car got written off that night - TAKE A PHOTO AS SOON AS U GET STUFF DONE ON UR CAR lol - i didnt =(

go with the replica mugen kit..looks sweet! but get it professionally painted and fitted..if u go for the front and rear lip option..you should just fit it yourself..its very easy and doesnt take very long..

cheers
