went to this site to help identify which gearbox I have.
http://www.thezcr.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1985&d=1138326085
mechanic told me it was "13.40 Revolutions = 4.25:1 Si"
gearbox code starts with s20, its a 92-95 si hydro transmission, has a 4.25 final drive.
gearbox uses the halfshaft too.
which obx unit does my gearbox use?

i dont think obx make any LSD's for the ED/EF transmission that you've probably got from an old CRX. your best bet would be to upgrade to an EG box if you want an LSD. but then again, im just going by the only info i can find on them at http://www.erzperformance.com/OBX_LSD_Helical_Limited_Slip_Differential_s/1632.htm

coming from your website, all ED/EF/EG share the same centre.
"OBX LSD 88-00 Honda Civic Sohc Dx Lx Ex"

but only thing Im worried is mine is a dohc and not sohc, how many different d series lsd centres are there? I know for the clutch kits, there are 2 different kits for the d series. One uses 20 teeth (92-95 hydro tranny), other has 21 teeth (88-91 cable tranny).

Bump for interest :)

I'll be looking to upgrade too LSD at some point..

There's OBX as you've stated but there’s a few problems with the install on the older models from what I've read.. I think version 3 and up got it fixed?

There's the JDM D15B Jap spec 1.5L SOHC VTec that came with LSD

Bolts straight onto mine but rare as hen’s teeth lol

Not sure if that would bolt onto your D-DOHC

Any other options people?

how are OBX in terms of LSD? i've heard they're other parts are pretty poor...

yea, from reading other reviews, obx makes pretty poor products, except their lsd. which is a exact replica of qualife
the cons were in the earlier models, where the axels would get stuck/jammed

they have fixed the problem already.

As I've mentioned to you before the OBX LSD for the D series will ONLY fit the SOHC gearboxes. If your gearbox is of that type then, yes, it will fit. Otherwise, no.

is for SOHC, so i doubt it would be compatible

Hey,

If you can, pull both axles out and look through the transmission.

If you can see a shaft across the hole left by the axles, that's normal.
If you can't see the pinion shaft, you got lucky with an OEM LSD.

> I thought all dseries were interchangable.

Not quite.

There's boxes with 35mm axle bearings and 40mm axle bearings. these are somewhat interchangeable. axles are compatible. input splines change 20 or 21 with different clutches for each. cable and hydro shift mechanisms are in-compatible.

There's also the "ZC" d-series which uses B-series sized axles and an intermediate shaft.

> gearbox uses the halfshaft too.

Sounds like a ZC box to me. In which case

Try http://www.quaife.co.uk/Differentials

That's who OBX copied. They have detailed technical drawings with all their LSD's.
I don't think there's any love for the ZC, but you might find something close.

If anybody is interested in special 40mm ID 72mm bearings to fit the OBX into 35mm axle bearing boxes, I might have a lead.

Nick.
