hi guys

what do i need to install an ek9 front sway to my cxi? I got the swaybar, bushings, brackets, endlinks, and the ek9 front control arms.

Is that everything i need to bolt them on?

thanks.

Yes, thats all you need. Have a look at the CXI lower control arm to check if the hole for the endlink is there. If the hole is there, no need to use the EK9 lower control arms.

not 100% -

you need the 4 x 12mm headed bolts to hold the swaybar to the subframe :)
Its done btw

if your ek1 already came with stock swaybars you can use the bolts that came with it already.

u mean the D bracket bolts? if ur car had a swaybar on it before just use those, otherwise as ben said the head size is 12mm, i think the thread size is 7mm, and the length of the whole bolt is 2.5cm

Honda dealer will sell them, as will a wrecker if you specify. Hond ashould stock them, from memory the bolts are used elsewhere on the car.

Does it have a rear?

yeh the bolts are easy to come by.
if u mean does the cxi have a rear swaybar, no. the cxi didnt come with any swaybars.
if u mean are the rear swaybar bolts the same as front, yeh

This is the 26mm front sway, correct? You will also need the front strut forks from the EK9 or EM1. The EK9/EM1 front LCAs are of different design and you need the strut forks along with it.

im not sure about the cxi, but the EK1(gli), EK4 also dont need to change lca or forks. i think the major issue is whether the cxi have swaybar mounting holes.

The EK9/EM1 use a different shaped front sway compared to the lower trims.

The 'normal' shaped sway for the lower trims are shaped like so...

do u know if wen mounting the front sway on a cxi, if there are already 4 nuts welded to the chassis that the d brackets screw into, or is there just 4 holes, and u get ur own bolts and nuts to attach, kinda like the rear on a cxi/gli?

simonnowis

since the cxi didnt come stock with a front swaybar im not sure, if there are holes for the endlink there should be holes for the d brackets, just like how the EK gli doesnt come with a rear swaybar stock but it come with endlink holes and d bracket holes.
look under and if there holes but not bolts, just get some bolts and washers from ur hardware store, its just normal bolts to hold the d bracket, nothing special about it.
btw nice car, wat sort of lip u got on, mugen?

The top diagram is from the USDM 99-00 Civic Si EM1. The lower diagram is from the USDM 96-00 Civic EX EJ8. Since the EK4 would be closely related to the EM1 as terms as engine and other configurations, I wouldn't be surprised if the EK4 got the 26mm front sway like the EM1/EK9.

Here's a writeup with pics for a front sway bar install...

i dont think EM1 have a 26mm front swaybar stock, the EK4 definately does come with a 26mm front and an 18mm rear.
lca, forks dont need to be changed. my EK1(gli) comes with a 22mm front swaybar stock. i replaced it with a EK4 26mm one. just bolt straight on.

Yes, our USDM EM1 did come with a 26mm front and 13mm rear. In the link I posted above, it shows installation of our EM1 26mm bar which is exactly the same as the EK9 bar/lcas.

This is the EK9 front LCA I took from Yahoo Japan Auction...

hey guys thanks for all your helpful responses... just to let u know i already have the ek9 front swaybar installed. I needed to have the ek9 control arms because the ek1 doesnt have mounting holes for the swaybar.

so does the EK1 GLI come wiht stock sway bar.? as i have a Ek9 front sway aswell , which i need to put on. does it bolt straight onto the stock sway bar end links etc if the GLI does have one?

simonnowis
18-03-2008, 08:54 PM
yes EK1 gli has a 22mm front stock swaybar and direct bolt off and bolt on with the 26mm front swaybar. its exactly the same, the only diff is just the thickness of the swaybar.

sorry to bump an old thread.

anyone know if i need ek9 front lca's for an ej8?

Killa From Manila
01-06-2009, 06:03 AM
no you dont need ek9 front lca's because your ej8 came with a factory front swaybar therefore it has the mounting holes already

Could you just drill holes?

Killa From Manila

u cant just drill it. the holes are on a mounting bracket that is welded to the control arm. if u kno wat ur doing u could easily make it though

u dont need that subframe setup. from wat i can see ur jsut missing the d brackets for the swaybar bushes, and the 4 bolts to attach it all up the the chassis. other than that u have the swaybar, lca, endlinks and bushes. it might be a good idea to get nyloc nuts for the endlinks, just to make sure they wil never fall off.
