View Full Version : expenses of buying an car from a private seller?

hey guys. just wondering what other expenses i'll have to pay on top of the price of the car.. of course.

any input would be much appreciated.

not quite following you mike HAHA..u mean just try to negotiate cheapest price for the car??

My bad, didn't read that you were from melbourne.

Usually when you buy a car in NSW you sign stuff to transfer the car to new owner and what not, and on that you have to state how much you bought the car for. RTA then charges you about 3% of what you paid for the car to transfer the details over.

RTA is sorta like your RACV (i think) lol

Yep transfer costs so your stamp duty and insurance you don't have to do anything else legally unless of course the car iteself needs work.
