View Full Version : Need another ECU
my ECU is damaged but i'm still using it.
trying to get money for another 1...
i have 1 on hold.
i have a Civic EG4 with a JDM B16A...
i've been told i need a chipped P08...
i've seen ECU's like P30 that is suited for a JDM EG6.
can i use this? my harness has been rewired for my current ECU.
or should i just stay with a chipped P08?

if your harness has been rewired for the b16a JDM ecu i would have thought that would be an obd1 ecu? i would have thought a p30 which i beleive is obd1 should fit.
Take the ecu out and have a look at the plug. He's a borrowed pic (Thanks to the trader Edge automotives best pic yet!) of the ECU plugs so you can work out which is yours

If the knock sensor has been wired up a P30 will work fine

Reason most people use the chipped ecus is that u can disable things, not to mention that the p30 is harder to find.
But agree with grant, if you have a ks wired in correctly, a stock p30 is fine.
i checked my ECU today...
very hard for me to pull out but i discovered i have a P30...
i am running a Jap Spec B16A... why was my harness rewired then?

coz the EG4 has a 1 wire O2 and no VTEC support,
so these need to be wired into the car so the engine ligth doesnt come on.
since i am running a P30 then i am running a knock sensor?
is this right? my 02 sensor at the end of my headers have 3 wires?
i thought it should be 1 or 4?

If you have a P30 then your runing knock
you o2 must have 1 or 4 wires. count again

if your running a P30 they properly just added a couple of wires.... They didnt need to rewire, probably said that to make it sound more complicated than it is...
