timing belt...
ok heres the story i just got my car serviced at honda and the guy told me that i need a new timing belt. fair enough. anyway honda quoted me $400 just for the timing belt but id remembered seeing an aftermarket belt for about $180 or something on the modproject site.
ok so whats the differences between the OEM and aftermarket ones? does it really matter? or should i stick with the honda timing belt.
$400 for a timing belt is ridiculous
I'd get OEM tensioners and everything else A/M personally; unless money is of no obstacle
oem honda timing belts are like $70-90
are u sure dat wasnt including labour?
if not ... dats robbery
yeah that what i though, but thats what he told me

I got a gates racing belt, tensioner bearing and cam seals from CBC Bearings here in Brisbane, all up = $87.
If the $400 is not including labour - buy your own belt then get it fitted.

theres alot of variables.
if its just for the belt - way too expensive
if its oem belt, tensioner and front seals - still a bit pricey but hey its a honda.
if its oem belt, tensioner front seals and all labour - good price
maybe...
i probably just missed heard him, i call them up to confirm it later. im too poor right now. : (
if not ill just buy it else where and get it fitted
thanks everyone for your insights
peace.....

honda usually puts a premium on their work, i was quoted 900 for a major service. so i wouldnt be surprised that just the t/b would cost 400.
should find a trusted mechanic for cheaper.

Yeah, what abt melb? Anyone can reccomend a garage that can do the 100,000km servicing for dc2r. i got quoted $400 (oem belt + labour) at some random mechanic in clayton.
Anyone can reccomend? Maybe sabbadin or akmotorworks or somewhere?

I think the going rate is around $300 for the timing belt and labour... But then things will add up quickly when you add the fluids etc on top of that.
