hey guys who here experiences the same?? everytime i go to give it a big hit and slamm it from 1st to 2nd it always crunches up top end..

so guys who do have this problem what have you done to eliminate or reduce this crunchin?? i though at 1st it was users fault but iver tried everything.. its always done this since ive had the car..

the clutch is new and adjust properly.. its even been set at all different levels to see if it crunchs..

so ive narrowed it down to maybe synchros gone... but hey if any of you guys have stopped this from happening.. please post up... because this shit is annoying the crap out of me..

Don't slam. Be fast and firm.

redline gearbox oil will do the trick

try redline shock proof first and if it doesnt improve its your syncros. 1-2nd gear is nice and cheap at $400ish for the part(not).

you also have to change your shifting technique and dont shift too quick.

Ive red lined and flat changed from 1st to 2nd no probs, also when redlining and changing gears i make sure it actully goes into gear before releasing the clutch, you can feel it go it, at low rpms i find it harder to get into gear

Its a common problem with the earlier AP1s to crunch 2nd. Not much can be done, check the TSB on S2ki.com. This issue is on the list pretty much next to clutch buzz and plastic window cracking.

Your lucky if its "just" the syncro, if any other parts are damaged it will cost alot more, best to get a full gearbox reuild.
I don't know about the s2000's but my old car 2nd gear syncro and 2nd gear was the most expensive outta all of them.

there about $60-$100 more expensive then 3-4!

i get crunches and grinding when im cruising, but when im punching it, its fine.
the labours will be a bit on changing the syncros aswell.

When during the high rev,at the top end 90% is the syncro problem,if you gonna open up,make sure check 3.4.5....

like this guy said check out S2ki.com

everyone else please stop saying its a synchro problem,we know nothing about the car,not even how many km's on it,what oil in the box, when oil was changed.
sure it may well be synchros but thats the easy answer out, could just as much be poor shifting, dodgy oil or a common problem with AP1s.

I would definitely atleast try changing the oil before i got all gung ho and ripped the box out to change synchros.
