You can't compare prices to Malaysia though because there is also protection (i.e. tariffs) which make imported vehicles EXTREMELY expensive...

You're right, if you can find me a FD2R for NZD/AUD20k and less, I will put my cash in right now!

Tne one I saw in NZ which has done 4,500km is going for NZD$42k.

RM200k is about AUD$68k or NZD$74k

Whats that got to do with the Type R?

here the Sports sells for around $35k, in Malaysia is around $42k

so if CTR is sold for around $68k in Malaysia, how much will it be here?

Sports price diff = 17%
CTR price based on this price diff: 68k * 83% = $56.5k AUD

NZD$42K I would consider it as new. :)

And yes, as Nepolian said I meant 20K less than Malaysia. :D (Thanks again G)

sometimes i keep wondering, why ppl like type-r so much.
if we see the engine, subaru STi got much power, 165 vs 180 kw.
if see the model, similar like FD
if we see the interior, similiar with FN2R.
brembo ? 350z also have brembo.
what makes this FD2R so so so special ?

The Subaru Impreza WRX is a turbo charged monster. To me the strength and attractiveness of Honda's Type-R is all about the handling and squeezing the maximum potential out of a normally aspirated engine. Surely you can throw in a turbo charger, super charger and more bangers and litre in order to obtain more power. However, the world today is all about LEV and less reliant on fossil fuel. The turbo chargers and super chargers, which are all thirsty for more petrol, are a bit out dated.

Long live the Type-R's, LOL.

What are you talking about, totally different cars and class. Not to mention price difference. Especially with the 350Z, which starts a 63k plus.

If everyone wanted a fast car we would all be buying EVO6's for sub 25k nowadays and then we can beat those K20's ;P

The Civic Sports is made in Thailand and thus is exempt from import tariffs in Malaysia. The CTR is made in Japan and hence will be hit by an additional duty.

ya... what im saying is, they still sell the Sports more expensive there... Anyway, i think we are the one who got exempt from import tariffs from Thailand (Goverment trade act or something I read before) that is why we only importing civics from there, not Japan...

Yes, Australia has a similar trade agreement w ith Thailand. The reason why the Sport is more expensive in Malaysia than in Australia eventhough the Free Trade Agreement is on, is because the Malaysian government slapped on additional stamp duties to offset the loss of income from the reduced/eliminated import tariffs. Those guys are money hungry...

It's limited to 180km/h. Temple of VTEC Asia tested it at Sepang Raceway.

FCD = fuel cut defencer (changes the fuel cut-out point to remove the speed limiter; presumably same as SLD?)

SLD = Speed limit defencer? So what does this do then?

Never heard of that acronym to be honest but I figured that's what it stood for. Probably does the same thing using the same technique- they just call it different things. Speed limit defencer sounds rather all encompassing whereas fuel cut defencer is purely just preventing the fuel cut out. Beats me.

Trust me its a different thing, I had both in my Soarer. FCD for boost and SLD for speed. Check out HKS website.

Back to topic.....

When I dorve the FD CTR, it did not reallt feel that much faster than the EP3R. Real difference was that power came on sooner. Nice car all round tho :)

I stand corrected. A quick google says it's only for turbocharged lol.
