View Full Version : what with that dark tint on top of windscreen????

i see that some cars have that really dark tint on top of the windscreen...

my car has it but my wife's prado doesnt...

and i just started to notice this on cars...

is this some type of option.

i had my windscreen replaced last year and the tint on my windscreen is massive... i wanna little one...

all cars have a bit of it...if not different colours.

but you;re allowed to tint that part with aftermarket tint.

myn has a lil bit of tint, not enuff to help with sun glare

so if u get a new windshield it doesnt come with it and u need to get it after?

yeh u need 2 get it tinted... windscreens dont naturally come with it if thats wat u mean.

most cars come with it factory but some are only small

if a car has had a cheap windscreen replacement it may not have it

alternatively u can get a shade strip, u can get mugen, spoon and honda ones in the traders forums

if it fouls the wipers its illegal.

so tint on the inside of the windscreen is the best bet legally.

i might look into getting it done.

you can tint/sticker your windsreen... just not below the reach of the wipers, or the ADR marking on the windscreen (which ever is lower)...

I've bought a replacement windscreen before on another car and it had tint up top. Green tho instead of original blue.

It was a local company and have since closed, but I think Windscreens Obrien were the supplier.

small local businesses are good... much cheaper than o'brian...

i paid i think $150-170 and o'brian wanted over $230

I got a matt black windshield banner. it really does help alot from sun glare which can be dangerous at times
