Here is a writeup i made a few months ago for PreludeAustralia.

Thought i would post it up here.

remember...if you like it, rep me. :P

Flipping the sheild in eBay projectors to make LHD into RHD.
This is done on the 5th gen prelude lights, but can easily be used as a reference point for other models.

just did this so i thought i would fling up some pick and let people know whats involved in the process.
it is nowhere near as daunting as it looks. took me less than an hour while watching southpark. and i am not the best at this sort of thing.

(note: i am not responisible for any damage cause in the process of undertaking this process yourself using my instructions. ie...dont sue my arse.)

Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

FIRST...you need to purchace a set of ebay projectors for the 5th gen lude.
these are the ones i got:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Manabir/headlights-1.jpg

now gather the tools needed:
- new headlights
- oven
- 2 knives (crap blunt ones...they will be ruined so make sure you dont wanna keep them)
- phillips head screwdriver
- hotglue gun

next you need to heat up the oven to 140 celcius.
once its at temp turn it off and pop a headlight in there.
leave it in for approx 7 minutes.
take it out...be careful not to burn yourself.
this should have gotten the glue nice and soft.
using the 2 knives pry the lens off the backing. you dont have to rush it...but dont be too slow as the glue will solidify again given enough time.
also make sure that you catch any strands of stretched glue before it lands on the reflector...dont wanna have to try to get that crap off.

repeat this process with the second headlight.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Manabir/Headlightsapart.jpg

now you have to undo the hight adjustment screw on the back of the housing.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Manabir/HLBack.jpg
once this is all the way undone you can pop the reflector from the backing.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Manabir/Projectorback.jpg
undo the 3 large screws around the back of the projector bowl
the whole projector bowl will now come out.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Manabir/Projector.jpg
undo the 4 screws on the back of the projector bowl to pop it apart.

one its apart you will see the little metal shield. pick it up and put it back the other way around.
original way (lhd):

new way (rhd):
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Manabir/Shieldgoodway.jpg

now reverse the process to reasemble the lights.
using the hotglue gun to reattach the lense to the backing.
now your ready to put them on your car and have fun.

i dont have any pics of them on the car as i dont get the car till next week...but i will add some once i get them on.

i know this isnt MAJORLY indepth...but it is a very easy job and what you have here is all you need to do it. i did it with no idea other than the temp and time in the oven and that i had to flip the shield.

plus i am crap at writing things. thats why i got straight D's in english and kept loosing marks in math for not showing workings.

goodluck.

EDIT:
2 quick additions.
i found when i went to put the HID globes in that they wouldnt go straight in.
i had to get a small round file and file a small bit off the bottom of the globe slot.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Manabir/filedforhid.jpg
photo isnt the best...but its only about 3x3mm files from the centre of the bottom of the slot.
then the globe goes in perfectly.

and secondly...here are some pics of them in using 6000k HID.

basically when u buy lights from the states, the drivers side beam is higher than the passenger so it blinds oncoming traffic. its pefectly fine in the USA cos traffic is on the other side of the road but in aus, its no good.

exactly what sireal said.

they are fron the usa so the lowbeam cutoff goes like this: ___/
over here that will blind oncomming traffic.
for driving here the cutoff needs to be like this: \___

this writeup is for changing the direction of the cutoff in projectors.

done.

and i plan on taking them apart in the near future and painting the surrounds in crystal blue metallic (same as the colour of my car)
i dont think black surrounds would suit my car.
but i will decide when the time comes.

I was look through your writeup and you were using a hot glue gun lol.. they recommond automotive silicon usually or any type of silicon. so then its easier to take apart in the future if condensation appears.

my headlights are designed with little breathers to let out moisture so i dont have to worry about condensation.
