hey guys,
i might be getting a breeze soon and was wondering its differences between a GL...
also if i was to throw 18s on it, where can i go to get the guard flared?
won't be a performance car, lol 1.3L carby but i'd like it to look nice

Man i strongly advise against putting 18's on a breeze. It might have trouble even getting off the line.

hehe

As far as I remember it was a 1.3L twin(?) carb.

lol you's serious
i've seen 18s on a GL, are the only differences is that its fuel injected?
also the one i'm looking at was told that it blows black smoke in mornings, whats the likely cause here?

dont put 18" on it! put 14 or 15 inch on it :)
usually when u get ur car lowered, they will flare it 4 u

bubblecivic

Its probaly blowing smoke because of the auto choke on it when its cold.

i can't really expect to spend much on the engine if its a GL or breeze model so i wouldn't mind a set of rims to make it nice. thats all it'l have.

The early Breezes (1991 (late), 1992, 1993) are the 1.3 single carbis.. the 94 and 95 breezes come with the twin carbi engine, almost positive the same one found in Gls.

I hada breeze.. for awhile (before my swap) and its not a very powerful car.. 18s wont do you any good... a 1.3 single carbi front wheel would id think have trouble pushing 18s .. especially if ur gonna go chromies..

I agree with civic boy, grab some 15s if u want the look.. mayb even 16s...dump it off its ass and roll the guards... =)

is the black smoke on cold mornings are serious issue i should be concerned about?
i'm only after a daily ride so yeah, also, is $6000-7000 a reasonable price for a civic!?

i'm downgrading from 180sx so power isn't an issue for me man, just after a cheap daily ride to hang on to...

hRm... 6-7k for a Breeze?
Id say its reasonable for a GL which has far more options than the Breeze
ie - Power windows, Powere Mirrors, Central Locking (remote too if im not mistaken), imobilizer, RPM tacho... the list goes on i just cant think at the moment

Personally I picked up my Breeze for a shy over 5k.. Interior was a lil dirty and had been in an accident + had front right fender resprayed, but even tho i didn't care about mechanical specs of it (because i was doin the swap) the engine had only done 160k kms, 1 owner (female) with full books and service history (which wasn't much :P) but yea... Ive known people who have picked up a GL for 6-8k mark depending on condition of car and how fast they need to sell the car..

If ur goin for a daily driver, i recommend the Gl over the Breeze, simply for the features.. also if ur after a bit of looks... (i assume u are cuz of the rims) the breezes dont have colour coded mirrors or door handles... so unless ur getting a black breeze (which ive never seen) expect black door handles + mirrors as such

Theres a sticky for it but im not sure how much detail it goes to...
as far as i know.. EGs go -

Breeze - 55kw single carbi engine (The 1.5 dual carbi was brought out in the later
models ; 94/95)
VEi - 66kw EFI
GL - 74kw twin carbi engine
GLi - 74kw EFI
Si - 96kw DOHC non vtec
VTi - 96 kw SOHC (dont listen to redbook) vtec

get the 1.5. i tink they available from 94 on
then u dun have to worry about not being able to get off the line

mytoycivic

why pay $3000+++ for 18s when the car is costing u what? $6000?
anyway no personal attacks here, just an opinion...if ur going to get a breeze, i wouldnt even put 15s on it!
go 14s and drop it on its bum bum!
it will seriously look better than it would with 18s...18s would make it look to high up!
meh its ur choice, but i always have to give my opinion :D go the :honda: carby!

mytoycivic

is the black smoke on cold mornings are serious issue i should be concerned about?

just a feature that comes with the auto choke on the carby my man
nothing to be worried about...just try not to drive it when its on choke (as u prob know) as it puts tremendous stress on the engine :|

bubblecivic
02-09-2004, 05:59 PM
i found a set of 18s for under 1k man... so it isn't so bad.
yeah thanks for the rest of the replies guy.
appreciated.

SiR JDM
03-09-2004, 07:01 PM
1k is cheap, but rubbering them up aint! And if your after a daily car, ur tires are gonna wear out fast.... and replacing 4 x 18s is an expensive job..

Im with mytoy... although i have 15s on my breeze/sir .. but thats as big as im going...
Go 14s/15s n dump it hard bro...look alot nicer imo than 18s..

They not chromies are they btW?

bubblecivic
03-09-2004, 09:16 PM
lol 18" inch wheels wouldnt be racing ones so what else? lol
yeah its chromies, zennettis
but quess i won't then hey

yeah i'll probaly be looking at a GL model
but this guy i know has a breeze with all the features and even a sunroof!?
what the?

SiR JDM

Really?

Check the engine bay and make sure the make number is an EG3, sounds like a EG4 to me..
I got no idea wats up with that.. unless the 95 models came fully optioned? :S?
