Although mine is a dc2r, i set my water temp to 105 and oil temp to 110

For the street I would set Water temp to 95 degrees, and oil temp to 100 - 110.

On the track: Water - 100 degrees and Oil to 120 degrees MAX.

I have a bigger radiator and lower thermostat and thermoswitch - so my temps usually run cooler. If I see those kinds of water temps, I usually shit myself.

sorry to hijack.. on a hot day w/aircon on full ball and temp @ 35-40.. my oil temp gets to about 100-105, should i be worried?

Not really worried. DC2R's and Honda's in general like to run hot.

Depending what oils you use, at around 120 degrees they will start to break down, which can lead to problems...

street:
water temp - 100
oil temp - 105

track:
water temp - 105
oil temp - 120

i tried these setting on wakefield on sat, quite good =) the water temp is never a problem, just sit around 90 when tracking which is perfect no need to worry. However the oil temp moves a bit more. reaches 120c in about 3 hot laps, and then i takes 1 lap to cool down to 100, so it's quite fast.

can i just ask, what constitutes a cool down lap? are you in top gear, with minimal throttle application or what?

I generally cruise around in 4th gear with little brake usage. Usually 2 laps too. One lap doesn't feel like long enough after pushing hard for 8 or so. People seem to quote conservatively. I've been able to push my car pretty hard for a solid 10 laps with minimal temperature increases. 36mm radiator and oil cooler do help though. Only ever run out of brakes once and that was only when I was pulling into the pits.

i normally do my cool down lap in gear 5, and 6 on the straight. like you don't floor the throttle because normally you will always have your foot on the throttle to the full. when your on straight. i just give it about 25% only. ya the car cools quite fast.:thumbsup:
