do these engines use the same plugs?

ngk seem to believe the y8 doesnt exist lol.

where'd you get that from?

according to www.ngk.com.au: BKR5E-11 is also for D16y8
On their website, choose civic 3 door coupe as vehicle model.

My owner manual says BKR5E-11, I just changed my plugs and they were ZFR5F-11 last changed at the Honda dealer, not happy because both my manual and NGK say BKR5E-11 for D16Y8, my car seems to be running noticeably better though I did reset the ecu after the change.

Yeah the ZF plugs run cooler. They are designed for economy not power.

Thats why a lot of dealers will change and put them in. Just tell them that you want to run the BK plugs from now on and you'll be set. Or just bring your own plugs to put in.
