19 years old, currently pay $300 a year for 3rd party on my 88 prelude - JustCar. I'll let you know what it changes to when I get my Civic.

By the way, is it true you have to get full insurance by law, when you buy a brand new car?

don't think so. full ins, basicly more for owner benefit (to get fixed).
so if u don;t take full ins (comprehsv), out of ur pocket to fix it.
doesn't matter new or old car.

No is not full insurance by law, however one of my frd he bought a brand new car (swift suzuki). He brought 3rd party insurance, then he crash his car twice within half year. The insruance claimed that was his false, he eng up paying 7xxx and the second time i can't remember how much. Basicly he have to pay around 10k just for fixing up his car and plus excess around 3k.
Therefore the cost of fixing the cost and others ppl's car will be at least half the value of his car. So would you prefer to pay a little bit extra, just to save ur pocket?

I'm 23 years old. I pay about $1100 (with Rating 1 Protection, which is $60 included). I'm with AAMI, Comprehensive (with 3rd party property damage cover of up to $20 million *mwahahaha*)

Standard Excess: $500
Additional Excess(Male under 25): $450
Agreed Covered Value: $21,100

Does not cover:
windshield
accident rental car

ordered new wheels + tyres recently, hopefully it doesn't change my insurance cost by too much x.X

nah, its up to you to have insurance or not, you take your own risk

unless if you purchase new or old car on finance then you must have full cover
because the car still own by finance in case you wreck the damn car

most of my cars is not insure lol

lols, i did the quote online, so i didnt bargin or anything..

shrugs* i've been told from a dude that worked at racv, wen a new car comes out, there is no data on it, hence the low price.

i guess now, they've been out for awhile, so they have more data (crashes/stolen etc) on it.

You need comprehensive by law i think. One of them you need by law so it covers you n other people if u get into a accident. If u dont want to protect ur car from getting stolen/hail wateva then its up to u etc.
man, wtf...im gettin charged heaps. T.T...maybe thats coz of my record...T.T

Third Party should be the minimum requirement, as it covers others that are involved in an accident of your fault.

Comp Insurance may/should be a requirement when you've got the car on finance (secured I'm guessing).

mine was with NRMA, no winshield protection, no courtesy car
- Excess: $500
- Covered: $30,000
- 65% discount, over 25
$1,080 a year...

oh my car is FD2 btw... also I think there's a major diff between FD1 and FD2 since they badge FD2 as "semi-sports" car (whatever that means) and FD1 as just "sedan"

Note: My friend work @ NRMA before so she knows about this stuff... :p
