Hi guys,
I have a decision to make i got two choices either
B16A Built with
CTR pistons
Block brace
buddy club 0.5 head gasket
Type r intake manifold
Obx 68mm throttle
Toda A cams with adjustable cam gears
Crower Valve springs
Or
B18c7
Toda A Cams with adjustable cam gears
Standard Itr Valve springs
Both will be tuned with hondata and i think will both cost about the same, I have most the parts to build the b16a. Im after which one is going to take a beating better
Thanks people

option 2 will be better. I use to have exactly that setup in my EK, it performed very well.

comes down to how much cash you got and what you wanna do in the end.
End of the day a b18 will be better, but will also cost more

What's wrong with the block brace?

What's wrong with the block brace?
how about the fact that they contribute to overheating and distortion of the cylinder so that it may become oval instead of round

no replacement for displacement

If the engine is overheating, then there are other problems. If it doesn't overheat, then you are less likely to get distortion.
AFAIK, S2k has a block brace from factory.

I don' know about the S2K. But that was designed from factory. So you would trust that.
There is never any need to use a brace in a B series if you need to, get some nice sleaves installed. They inhibit water flow and interfere with expansion rates. They will cause more harm than good.

b18c7 all the way... might change my view on the b16a after this weekend.

Definately the B18C7. No block guard. Stock is very good upper cylinder cooling and plenty strong.

Gday guys
Looks like the decisions been made clear, B18 will be better.
The motor should be here soon so as long as it looks clean enough its going in.
Not too sure about the toda A cams though.
Thanks fellas

didn't know it was you joe. just get the b18 and wack the cams in if it's not costing you anything. difference between ITR and Toda A is very minimal.

use the b16 head if its still ok and get the b18c block.
